Just make sure the hoses you use dont have holes and they make a tight connection.

It was hard finding this thread again, and it took me a few days to actually get out, move the Hatch and pull out the measuring tape. 14.25" of diff clearance. This is with 3" lift, 28" Superswampers, EA82 adjustable rear shocks and the torsion bar racheted.

Signs of a bad air/vacume leak. Use a can of starter fluid and spray small shots around where you made changes. A change in idle will give you the location.
-
The rotation of the rotor is CCW, and plug firing order is 1324. Alot of people have made the mistake on the disty rotation, me included.

tail light not working on 1983 wagon
Turbone replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do the blinkers work? I would suspect the stop checker myself. -
It says what the ratio is on a tag on the back of the diff. It also will have in big letters - LSD. Thats if you have it.

Ready to see the CLEANEST 70's wagon ever!?
Turbone replied to lastchance's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey Soobme, can you make a brushguard like the one on the EA82 Sedan? -
Well, your all right with the belts. It sounds like they are installed right. I think the problem could be the cat, typical symptoms. Feel the end of the exhaust pipe with someone in the car giving it the gas. You can also pull the O2 sensor out to test, but that can sometimes be a bear. If you need to have the car inspected yearly, you may have to have a new one installed.

You will need to have the diff match the tranny ratio, should be 3.9.

Personally, I only rib, raz and cajole people that I know well and have been on the board for a while (at least over a year). That way I know how much I can get away with:D Personal attacks are a nono. If you want to question a persons reasons for what they are doing, do it with a PM or email.

Are you missing any rubber gromets in the firewall? All the seals around the doors and windows look good? Check underneath the car itself and look for holes in the floorpan also.

Why Harbor Freight is SO cool
Turbone replied to Adam N.D.J.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So? Dont keep your finger crossed, but someday it could come back. So in the meantime, you will probably see alot of threads like this:brow: -
Cool Mick, it looks like I wont be the only one. Altho you only have to replace the belts, I have to replace the engine. But I'm not complaning:D Mine is coming at a slightly lower price, but not much. With delivery, its $30 more.

Lets not go there, ok? He has one more chance to make things right. After that, who knows.

Did a dual range ever come with EFI?
Turbone replied to newsance's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry, should have added the year in my last post. That is for 85. -

My FSM says both the 4dr and 3dr Turbo's had 5spd D/R's. -

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, bit didnt the 85 Rx have a D/R? -
Zap is from the "School of Hard Rocks". Literaly, and in more ways than one:brow:

The best one to hope for would be the GL10 4wd Trubo, with 5spd of course. A 4wd manual with turbo is ok too. Anything else, with problems, may not be worth it.

Kinda fell in my lap...
Turbone replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmm, just maybe the Canadien models were a little different then US models for those years? Btw, nice score Brian. -
Well, if you time it and it still does it, you can rule out the timing issue. You can use some starter fluid and spray it around the base of the carb to see if there are any leaks.
-
If its for Off-Road application forget about the intercooler and such, its not needed. A bigger turbo/crossover,downpipe from a EA82T is good, gutted cat and free flow exhaust is good. 5spd D/R tranny is a must. Dont think the 2wd disty will work without alot of mods to the electrical system, probably not a good idea for a Turbo. Not to many people have done big mads to the EA81T engines (cams, etc).

EA81T mystery #1 weird object under hood??
Turbone replied to ShawnW's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The one with the canister is a dealer add-on. The one with the cable setup is factory.
