  1. Have you pulled the disty in the past? Almost sounds like its 180deg out.
  2. Picked these up at the PAP today. Kind of rare to find 5 at once. Alloys
  3. Are you sure the firing order and timing are right? Is the knock sensor plugged in?
  4. If it was designed as a "chimney", why didnt they design a scoop that didnt melt?
  5. Well, I can tell you, farting around IN your car will create a strong gas smell:dead: I have a couple of suggestions (seriuosly). Replace the fuel filter. Be sure you clamp off the fuel line first, its under high pressure. Check all the fuel lines to the injectors, these have a tendecy to loosen and leak.
  6. Does it have a 2 piece driveline? Maybe its the carrier bearing if it is.
  7. Are the CV boots still intact? Could have some foriegn material in the joints. Might have a look at the inside fender liner, if its loose it could rub on the tire.
  8. Hmmm, looks like a trip to Moxee Motors might be in order for early spring.
  9. The scoops are supposed to direct air to the turbo. Theres a duct that sits above the turbo, but not attached to the hood. I would assume that if you were running the car hard, and when you stopped the car, extreme heat build up would rise and cause the hood scoop to melt.
  10. Welcome to the board. I use to have a 82GLF (2 actually). You can see my last one in the picture gallery, readers rides. Heres a link to the tranny fix. http://usmb.net/repair/?CurrentDirectory=FOLDER_3f29b58f50d9b8.15492800/&FileType=Article&File=ARTICLE_3f57fdb83de231.34713659.art
  11. I believe theres an article in the USRM about cleaning the tranny governor. Sounds like this could be your problem. Look at the top of the page under the logo and find the usrm button. Rob
  12. Check to make sure there isnt any cables or whatever rubbing on one of the axles. Sometimes theres stuff on the road that can be picked up and wrapped around an axle also. Rob
  13. Were the wires the type that are pre-made, or did you have to make the ends up? I would check all the SP connections, they have a habit of not going on all the way when they are new. Same with the disty cap. Oh, and make sure the cap is ok too. Rob
  14. JC Whitney has digi gauges. Never bought any, just seen them in the catalog. Rob
  15. Well, now everyone will want thier own forums. Offroad Forum, Street Forum, Turbo Forum (EA81T/EA82T seperate Forums?), NA Forum, Hack Forum, Beginners Forum, Advanced Forum, Add Infinutem. See what I mean? I think we can keep it all in the Old Gen forum so we dont have to keep jumping around. In other words, Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) Rob
  16. NV, its the slug on the end that broke. Moosens, if you need one, I got it. Rob
  17. From Skips post, he didnt say if the car died. I'm going for a shredded Alt belt that took the wire off the oil sender. Rob
  18. THats a bugger to get to. Its almost located directly above the fuse panel, and attached to a bracket off the upper firewall. And you know what that means:D And yes, its a round silver unit. Rob
  19. It might even be loose duct work, or a leak there of. Rob
  20. I dont think its a gas problem. The tranny could have overheated (did the AT temp light come on before running out of gas?)thus not letting the car start? By the time you came back with gas it had cooled off. But definately get the tranyy looked at by the dealer. Rob
  21. I dont think either one of them would carry it.I think JC Whitney is your best shot. Rob
  22. If you dont want to mess up the finish on the hood, use a flat piece of metal stock about 1/8th thick. The latch is on the right side (you prob knew that) and push towards the right (you prob knew that too). Rob
  23. The diff already has stubs on it cause its a rear diff your using for the front. Rob
  24. Nice article, but unfortunatly the pic they show is diffenately not a Brat:mad: Rob
  25. Congtrats on finding the problem. Your troubleshooting skills have increased greatly, nice to have FSM's. Is it running yet? Rob
