  1. Yea, I kinda miss those days:D Btw, my first car was a 68 Firebird, black with white interior and slotted mags. The car was only 8yrs old when I got it. Alot of you werent even around yet:eek: I have my 12yr boy help me sometimes, mostly manning the jack. But he asks lots of questions, and its fun. Just wish his attention span was longer. Rob
  2. Same here as a kid. I was my Dads gopher and mule - go get the saw and that pile of 2x6:-p He knew nothing about mechanics, but he could sure build with wood. Learned alot on my own working on bikes, helping friends with thier cars, till I got my own car. Rob
  3. Its under the passenger seat. Theres 2 of them, one for the ignition and the other is FP relay. Disconnect one to find out which is which. No luck with the connection at the pump? Rob
  4. Good to hear about the fuel filter. Normally these cost around $20 cause they are high pressure. How long have you used yours WJM? You will let us know if it blows, right? Rob
  5. All of mine have pulled right out. And yes, they have diff oil in them, not ATF. Meeky, sounds like a seal went out between the diff and tranny. Rob
  6. Ok Brian, here you go. You will have to give up the 84 Turbo coupe:rolleyes: Dont leave me hangin Bud. Rob
  7. A diff that cores a Gov that bad will core another one. Cant tell you how long it will last, after my 2nd one they only lasted about 60mi. And its really hard to tell how bad the shaft is inside unless you pull the diff apart. Altho splitting the diff off the tranny isnt that hard, its just a pain pulling the tranny period (this I do know). Rob
  8. Doh! Calebs right. All AT's are 23 spline. Darn, I even messed up on the ratio:rolleyes: I better stick to EA81's. Rob
  9. The stubs are 25 spline. You might be better off replacing the whole tranny. The 5spd conversion is doable but very labor intensive No one I know has a manual. The ratio is 3.9 Rob
  10. Billy, would one of theose "leftover manuals" be a 84 electrical manual? The one I paid you for around 4/03? Sure like to get it before it goes to someone else. If you need my mail addy again, just ask. Rob
  11. Well, it could be a number of things. Most are related to faulty parts/assembly. One possibility is a bad head gasket. I think I would check into that and rule it out before damning the rest of it. If you take the heads off, check for broken springs, etc. Rob
  12. Why? The Porche engine has more HP than any Subaru. Rob
  13. IF we get ahold of him and IF we make a group purchase, does that mean I have to pay twice for the item I ordered? Sorry, I dont think I want anything to do with it. Good luck finding him. Rob
  14. Hey Caleb, those are 2 different plenums. How much polishing did you need to do? Did it have ridges like the other 4wd one? Rob
  15. Do you have a manual? Its alot easier than running back and forth to the computer. We do like to help, but if you are going to do any maintenace on your car, it really helps to have a manual. Rob
  16. Ok, I think I can handle the hold. Nothing wrong with my hands. Rob
  17. Ok, now what you need to do is tape the camera to the bumper and make a run up and down the street:D That way we can hear it going thru the gears:grin: Rob
  18. Without a pic to go by, it "sounds" like the noise suppressor unit. Rob
  19. Well, its definatly a bearing. But theres no way for any of us to know where or what bearing, cause we cant hear it from here:D Rob
  20. I have to apologize. Andy is correct. My waterpump did make odd noises, but it wasnt the goose noise. When Andy posted about the fan, it jogged my feeble memory. My rad fan was the goose noise, the bearings went out on it prior to the WP going out. My bad, and I deleted my previous posts:rolleyes: Time to order more Focus Factor. Rob
  21. These 3dr Coupes were made from 85 to 89 (pretty sure). The engine classification is EA82. When you order parts make sure they know its a 3dr coupe, not a 3dr hatchback. Rob
  22. It looks like it came from of Todds rigs. Lives up in Mt Vernon, Wa. A very interesting guy. He has some of the most "unusual" Soobs around. http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=776 Rob
