They will be stressed more for sure, part of the game. I do have a set of new diffs and halfshafts that are from the front of a Nissan, R200s. I was going with the R180 but the 200 gives me airlockers and lower gears. The Nissan half shafts are being shortened and re-splined to fit the re-enforced EA81 outer cups.

hey let me know how all this diff stuff goes. if it takes the beating i might need to have you help get that design to go for my car. lower gearing and better strength. that's what i'm trying to go for right now. not to mention air lockers... cause i was going to get 33" tall tires for my car but then i kept breaking all these stubs. so till i get a good way to beef it up and maybe even lower the gearing more. i'm staying with my 31" tires... but when i upgrade drivetrain the 33's will come. i need them here for all the rock crawling in AZ.

i was just kidding about the no drivetrain. from what i've seen of your work you do it right the first time. and i know it's not an overnight procedure. trust me. but it looks good. i was just teasing you cause for the longest time i saw your brat with no drivetrain. :) that's what that smilie was for.

keep me informed. on this axle stuff.

The short explaination is Rocket Scientist. My Boeing job title is Scientist II, and my working title is Flight Opperations Specialist Automation/ Recovery. What I do on a planned basis is monitor space vehicle state of health and support testing and integration. We also upload guidance data, payload control software and space craft opperating software. The other side of ops is the recovery of vehicles that have experienced an anomaly that impacts health or service of the space craft. That is sort of the high pressure panic part of the job.

ok, somebodies making some $$$.J?K

so, if you dont mind me asking, how much something like this cost? how much do you have involved in it? sorry if that question is offensive.

It doesn't pay as much $$$ as you probably think, I mean it isn't bad, but we aren't talking 6 figures by any means.

If I had to guess, I would say that I have about the cost of a WRX into it.

That thing would probably kick my trucks @$$ off-road. Maybe not until you get lockers, but I would sure put my money on the subaru. Nice Rig!!

I can't promise that the new diffs will be in by then, in fact I can be sure the rear wheel steering and CTIS won't be in but everything else will be. I am WAY ahead of what I planned on for a time line. In two weeks I have done what I expected to do in a month and a half.

well,,, You cerntinly picked the best user name for yourself:rolleyes:

..your brat is officially Too Cool! your reparations begin with bringing all of our brats up to speed with yours before you are allowed to proceed. Sorry, but your brat is creating an imbalance in the Subaru Force nexus and is acting as a sort of black hole of cool, sucking all the mojo out of ours and into yours. Something has to be said before it's too late, and I'm of course never afraid to open my mouth..

I'd like to see some pics of it actually offroading on some trails.

I'll second that. Kind of a waste to build such a killer offroader and just have it sit in the driveway or just drive it to work, etc.

So how much clearance do you have under the diff?

Somewhere I saw some pics of it at a mudhole. So I know he's not afraid to get her dirty at least... :)

Where? I'd like to check them out.

Only pics I've seen are in his driveway and on some pile of rocks that looked to be some sort of construction site or something.

Here are the pics I was thinking of. They are from his own website. It looks like they are from an earlier stage of the brat's evolution, however... Nice little hatch there, too.
