Interest meter #2...5 lug.

Featured Replies

hoy many would be interested in a 5 lug kit that is as simple as...

jack up car, 4-19 MM nuts..1-36MM nut...4-14MM bolts...all those off...and then...4-14, 1-36, 5-xxMM nuts on....put the car down...and then repeat x3...and you have 5 lug...?

Bascially...having NEW hubs machined for 5x100.

Interest?

Also...what would you be willing to pay?

if it would work for gen 1 i'd be all over it, 'course i'd need some $ numbers first

I agree. If they would fit ea71's and ea81's I'd be happy to have a set.

And and idea on weight to estimate the freight would also be helpful.

I have interest (no current funds). What would the cost be? And which models?

Wow, if the price was that low I might think about a set for the RX. Shipping would kinda suck for me though:rolleyes: .

I'm very interested, I don't know that I'm up for $200 for all 4, but if it were closer to $30 a piece, and depending on shipping, I'd be in. especially if it didn't happen until spring, that would fit better with MY project anyway.

I also assume these would be for 4 wheel disc brakes (not an issue here)

If they are going to be machined, you might be looking at between $30 and $50 each.

Hey $200 total is still cheaper than what alot of the yards are asking for 5 lug now... some want as much as $350 for the whole setup.

I'd want some if they were that low, I'd top out at around 70-90 each. two sets as well

even at $200 for 4 would they come with new studs and lugnuts? new bolts or would one reuse the bolts and lugnuts?

what about the disc brakes? whould the disks be reused or would remanu's or new be part of the mod?

well if you just use hubs..your missing out on brake and front suspension upgrades that can be had with the xt6 swap..

I'd be all over that. The catch is that the price would have to be fairly low. I'm thinking not more than $20-30 bucks a wheel. Then again, I'm poor, and it'd be a stretch for me to get TO that price point, much less past it.

I was actually gonig to start modeling this at work myself, so I guess you could say I'd be intersted.

These units would include studs and nuts...but would only be a direct swap on 4 wheel disc cars...as the drums...from what Ive seen...would need to be remade as well to maintain 5 lug and rear drums...and you can use stock rotors.

Remember...I am working on a brake upgrade as well.

Will, I am in no way wanting to rain on your parade, please pursue this matter to it's fullest extent.

but

If one considers that the hub will no doubt not be

made from a billet (i.e. a solid chunk of steel round stock) it them

must be cast.

Investment casting (sand, lost foam?) does not come cheap.

After casting it must be machined in several ways.

The face must be machined and drilled and then

the splines machined into the inner bore.

I don't know what you guys pay for machine work but

20 dollars would not even get one unit chucked up in most shops.

Maybe if you place an order for several hundred?

Me thinks this brainstorm is going to turn into a drizzle once the

real price/unit is revealed.

That is exactly why I have not posted a price yet. I know that the stock hubs from SUBARU and elsewhere are really...not cheap...

what about making an adapter plate that you that you could bolt onto the stock hud it would be easier, cheaper, and would work on rear drum brakes

just an idea

you would have to compensate with the offset of your wheels or it would wear out your bearing ect, and also - there not too strong and it would be awful to have a wheel come off at freeway speed

arent those dangerous? i dont think they will pass inspection here in pa, and i would think they would really fudge up your handling, unless you got really deep rims..?

i can get some hardened stainless steal to hake them out of really cheap or free so i don't think strength would be a problem as far as wearing out bearings get a deeper wheel offset

again i'm not sure if it would work

if you make a plate that bolts to the lugs, it will push the wheel out more THUS you will need a wheel with more offset than stock to fit corectly. and if it goes to a smaller 4 lug like 4x100 it will be hard to get rims that fit. <for street cars>. id imagine offroaders want the wheels to stick out
