check your alternator, may have bad diode -
so my wife calls me "LO"
subiemech85 replied to Arctic Immigrant's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
LO is the front lever that sticks up by the bellhousing 4wd is the rod that slides in - out at the rear you may need to drive in circles until it comes free why isn't she doing 60+ in 5 low?? -
How to tell which gear
subiemech85 replied to 2F1R Suby/dub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
neutral will be in center of psuh / pull and swing left - right reverse should be swing right and push should be able to hear a deffinate sound when the "extra gear" engages to make the reverse work BTW VW A20 reverse pull to case and swing to engine -
ADD an OVERFLOW reservoir if you "fill" the radiator, it will "find" it's own level
-
WARNING most of what was previously posted is BS and should be disregarded p. 157 of the parts place inc 2007 is the start of the van section the vw engines do not use bellhousings to mount transmissions! the clutch stays with the engine when the trans is removed the trans is moloded in such a way as to go around the clutch componets you could upgrade to the 1.9 "easily" the boxers are a totally different critter
-
BEFORE you replace the radiator, check it's function with a temp gun take the rad to a rad shop, and they can flush and restore the performance
-
^^^ and that's coming from the land of no self serv gas the bluebellies really don't care unless you are "commercial"

I didn't knwo the EA82 EXISTED in '83 EA71 216 lb EA81 209 lb SOURCE: p. 2-2 of edition april 1984 reprint MSA - 111 publication No. Sm76TUS " Ive never towed anything with my subaru. Im too much of a "scardy cat" as some would say. " and I tend to call those types of people CHICKEN, or in your case a dog that needs a martini PROPERLY adjusted DRUM brakes STOP fine I bought a 590lb trailer to use behind my wagon, and it went fine pulling it home on the interstate @ 60 mph., even with a weak slipping clutch! I am in the process of adding electric brakes to the trailer, it's gvwr is 2720 lbs. MilesFox "it can tow a trailer in a blizzard and is quite handy for towing my cars around with a tow bar." he also did towing using only the e-brake to stop
-
" however your EA81 or EA82 full of fluids wieghs in at 227lbs " where did you find that number? and where's the proof?? " and as such Ive been trained how to propperly load trailers with equipment and items. " what do you load, onto what, and what do you use to load?? used to stack 4 high manure spreaders on a flatbed trailer using a tractor + loader and a skidloader

subiemech85 replied to GREENSUBIE's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
especially with a low comp. turbo, d/r is the way to go although I enjoy the s/r ea71, partlyt because it is so hard to convert to d/r -
