OMFG!!!!!!! will you guys either do the friggin mod and leave it alone and BE IN FEAR OF RIPPIN' up your trannyand leave the 5%duty crap to the engineers at SUBARU. you guys are getting way deeper then you need to. obviously, the switch cannot be left on at anything more than say20 mph or your already weak (from the factory) 4EAT transmission is going to EXPLODE IN YOUR FACE. i just don't get it, those of you that don't want to do the mod to your car, FGS don't do it. those of you that have done it and have not had any problems, apparently know not to leave it on. thank you for all of the wonderful input, but it is done to my car and the only time i have used it so far is to do DONUTS in a vacant snow covered parking lot. i will also prob use it to do some rallyXing. PEACE:cool:

i realize that you are dealing with a different engine and such but when i put the 2.2 out of my swap car into my 92 legacy, i had a small leak in one of the heater hoses ( bear with me for a second) hence i had coolant lacking in the heater core. i also have had air stuck in the heater core because the hoses were backwards on the engine side. hence, with the air bubble in the core it was overheating. i have learned that these cars take a REALLY LONG time to burp all the air out. i have one of the radiator fill adapters and it took me about 30 minutes to burp the legacy. just my .02

the EJ 5mt is about 55mm longer than than the EA82 tranny, then if you add the depth of the adapter plate it is another 1/2 inch

well gang, i was not trying to turn this into a ''FIGHT". i was just simply asking if it in fact controlled the power side of the circuit. i appreciate all of the input for the yeah's and neah's but as a mechanically minded person i was just asking a simple Q. i understand that if Subaru wanted me to have A FULL-TIME AWD AUTO TRANS they would not have made it with a duty cycle solenoid. the main reason for this mod to my car is so that if i decide to lift it and possibly go do so MILD off-roading, i will have a 50/50 split to work with instead of wheel slip. again thank you for your inputs and i will now be unsubscribing from this thread as i do not want to be part of the "FIGHT". so i just read the write-up on what wires to fool around with to do this modification. however, i was curious as to if the TCU supplies power to this solenoid and the switch is supposed to interupt it or if the switch is supposed to let it have power. i ask this because it was stated "NOT TO START CAR WITH SWITCH ON, or the a/t trans temp light will flash at you a lot" i would like to do this to my "new to me" 92 wagon. thanks, Dave

while you're at it why don't you just do some aluminum control arms?:-\ might be easier then cut and weld. just my .02:)

when we say "wiring harness prep" we mean that if you give one of us a COMPLETE EJ wiring harness we will remove all unneccessary parts of it so that essentially, your EJ motor with battery, ignition, fuel and crank power will run on the ground:slobber: . all that would be required of you is to install it in your EA81/EA82 car and plug in those four (4) things and if installed properly, your car should run.

not neccessaily competition.....just a new co-worker i'd say:) , would suck to be the only one doin' it. i was contemplating the same thing:-\
