OMG Leaks, rough idle, smoke, this that, EVERYTHING is bust
Gloyale replied to Hinano's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNah....early Legacies had a drain bolt in the tank. 12mm head. eliminated in 92? I think. Like the old EA81 and early EA82's the had em too.

Removing crank pulley on EJ25... got the bolt out. pulley doesn't come off...
Gloyale replied to kevinrse's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMake sure to look in all the nooks and crannies on the fornt of engine. I had an idler explode in my wheeler......Fixed the belt on the trail........then a few months later hit a big bump, and a few of the loose balls that had been sitting in a little shelf jumped out and got caught up in the belt........breaking it again......EJ18 so no big deal.....but you've got a DOHC 2.5 Make sure to get all the FOD "foreign object debris" out of there before the new belt.

clutch replacement
Clutch cable should be just a bit shy of tight.....just a tiny bit of slack until you push the pedal. Once you get it set.....then HillHolder adjusts to where it pulls HH cable at the point where the clutch cable gets tight.

91 loyal duel range 4spd ea81?
Bolt it in. The mounts shold land close enoguh to just put a few new holes in the crossmember. Fabricate a D/R shifter...... Use the 4spd one piece driveline. Then when you break the 4spd, which you will........Get a 5spd D/R and put all your 5spd stuff back in.

Trooparu
Reassmebled the transfer case today with all new bearings. Godddangit this thing is tricky to get to this point.....took 3 tries to find the right order......the book has pics of sections but no start to finish rebassembly proceedure. The rear flange is larger than the subaru drivelines.........the other 2 are the same as subie. So I redrilled this rear one, and I will swap it to the front output so if it's slighlty not centered it won't matter at 10 mph in 4wd.

Started motor with dis cap not clamped:( couple issues.
Did you connect the green test connectors during timing set? You have to do that to get teh ECU to stop trying to adjust timing. And yes a new cap could require a major readjustment.

99 Legacy Outback. Cyl 1 & 3 misfire. Think I failed dollar bill test :(
Gloyale replied to kevinrse's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX+1 Do this now.... Do Not crank the engine over.......AT ALL.......not even a little. The timing belt has skipped a tooth....possibly 2.........hopefully the valves may not have collided yet.

Power loss after changing T-belts
how are you establishing that it's just 2 cylinders??? This is sounding more like a carb issue......not sure....but it would be good to establish why you think it's just one side not the whole engine.

Need help: Swap analog to digital dash!
You may have put power to the "illum" circuit + which dims the dash at night. The whole thing lights up brighter in the day. Still can't seem them when the sun shines though. This is an XT one from 87.5 Turbo.

Where's the fuel pump relay (fuse?) on my 99 Legacy Outback?
Gloyale replied to kevinrse's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX99 it's WAAAY up inside the dash. upper left hand with the IG. relay. PITA to reach unless you have snakes for arms. You can do your compression test with a handheld starter button jumpered between the battery and the starter solenoid. Leave the key off=no fuel or spark. Makes the whole thing easier since you can stand right there and hold the gauge. Remove all the spark plugs....and hold the throttle open while cranking for the testing for best results.

4x140 to 5x100 bolt pattern adapters
I've never been into adapters.....but these do seem well done. And the XT6 option is drying up everyday. I gotta get a set for my 84 Sedan. Sign me up for a set on the next run if you would be so kind. Unless you got enough extra to add them into this run. PM me for my address. Thanks.

looking for a gl10 sunroof
That's the 3rd one I've heard of that happening to! (2 wagons and an XT) If you find one.....adhesive seal that sucker in and never take it out.

Loyale Towing Capacity?
I'll just leave this here. I don't know what the official capacity would be rated at...............but I'm pretty sure this 5500lb trailer load is overdoin it a bit. EJ18 and AWD 4.11 manual. Hauled this 38 miles, over 2 small passes to the scrapyard. Sad....that little toyota drove onto the trailer. There is a 350 shortblock and a bunch of parts of an old late 40's chevy on the roof.

Need help: Swap analog to digital dash!
Here's some photos of the Wiring pinouts. There is a whole section w/ flowcharts for troubleshooting each individual gauge.....but that section is long and photos would be worthless. Hopefully these are a start.....pretty accurate with pins just no wire colors

clutch replacement
Dumb question but trans in gear? Not in gear........input shaft just spins free inside case.....no output to stubs.

Cruise control install, does anyone have a diagram?
I bought a turbo model that had it and the big plastic ball had caught fire and melted all the wiring on that side. Seemed to be dealer installed system. Many if not most Turbos were GL-10s......which had the "built in" system from the factory with electric pump so no canister. But in 88/89 they made some regular GLs w/turbo and it's one of those I had the big ball catch fire.

Power loss after changing T-belts
I just had a thought. Did you take the crank pulleys off? There is a front and a back one......And if you mixed them up it can lead to this problem where you end up a half tooth off somewhere. They are offset to eachother slightly. If you have em back off to check.....the "back" one or drivers side has a bit of a depression on the back, whereas the "Front" passenger side one is flat both sides.

long travel Outbacks or making Subarus faster and more reliable offroad
It works on any of em. I have it on my GL in the front and was in my GFs old Forrester before we sold. It not a turning brake though.....cable just can't pull that hard and front of these cars are so heavy just plows and drags a back tire...........it's more of a traction aid when crossed up diagonal over a ditch or hump.

86 gl signal relay location
Wow. Nice pic. My memory has been fading aparently......I could have sworn it was above the column.

85 GL AT quick shift
You've got it backwards. It operates off manifold vac....not ported vac. Ported Vac (above throttle) does increase with throttle opening............but... Overall vacuum in the intake goes down with open throttle.
