  1. Like Nipper said most pumps have a filter. I'd get a universal inline filter and install it in the engine compartment. Change that on a regular basis until you need a pump. Make sure the uni is suitable for pressuized fuel systems and has enough delivery volume. Might also consider getting a legecy filter and rig up a mounting point for it.
  2. Had the same issue on the wifes imp. One of your transmissiom link rod bushing is shot. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=86162
  3. You could find out if a 95 or 96 intake would bolt on to your 2.2 if it does then try to find one in a bone yard.
  4. Thank you Joo that's about what I thought. I looked everywhere for the fuse holder when I 1st got the car, then figured that manuals don't have it because it works via the hyd. press of a auto.
  5. Is there a fwd fuse for manuals? I looked for one on mine and couldn't find it 97 ob. Assumd that only autos have it. Both my imps and 97 leg which are autos ahve it and they weren't hart to find. Can anyone clear this up for me?
  6. Without knowing if it was serverally overheated, I wouldn't buy it unless I was willing to replace the motor if need be. Be careful.
  7. Time for a new scewdriver? Sounds like your poking holes in the plugs. Put a dab of RTV on the bottom of the plug let it cure and use it until you get a replacement.
  8. As long as someone eles works on them. Hondas are a nightmare, worst than Fords which I'd eat worms before working on again. Soobs are far and away the easiest cars I've ever had the pleasure to work on. Even the worst things to get at (knock sensor, bottom driverside bellhousing bolt) are easier than most things on a Honda. There is not comparision between soobs and any other car for ease of maintance or repairs.
  9. Your guy is probably right. Even if he isn't now someday it will happen. although $1800. sounds a little high, but if you trust the guy that's worth alot. I'd change the HGs (both) along with the oil pump, themostat, and hoses, heater hoses also. if the $1800. includes all this then its not bad. Good luck. It's the only thing that really sucks about these cars. I know I have one. By the way if you drive it again try putting the a/c on along with the heat that way the a/c fan will kick on and stay on for a little extra cooling.
  10. I don't know what kind of fog lights you have on your 08 but my 96 imp's are $300 apiece OEM. I'd get used to them if I were you. Congrats on the new car.
  11. Are there bubbles in the coolant @ idle? If there is it's probably a HG or crack.
  12. If I remember right there is no nut or serrations. Use some PB on it, then tighten it up a little more to get it to move, then back it out. I don't think you'll have to drive it out. Use some anti seize on the top of the ball joint and bolt on reasembly.
  13. Nice ride! I'm glad my wife doesn't go on the USMB! She'd be haunting me for one!
  14. I've been told by my parts guy that the new pads don't need fresh cut rotors anymore. They work just as well on used rotors. I haven't had rotors cut in a long time. They're so cheap now if they need cutting I just replace em.
  15. Subaru and Honda should not be used in the same sentence. Ops!
  16. If that works for you porc, great. I drive 600 miles a week almost all hiway I need to know my roo's are aligned or I'll be buying alot of tires.
  17. From one Jordan to another BUY IT!! How can ya go wrong? If he only changed 2 tires and being a 93 chances are its 2WD but what the heck its a Roo!
  18. That'll get you to the alignement shop without shaking the car apart. If you can, have an alignment tech show you how little movment it takes to throw the alignment out you'll understand that marking it is a hit or miss affair. Once you lose alignment you won't get it back on your own without dumb luck.
  19. You can try whatever you want. After doing dozens of these I found what works for me. The strut bolts are the ones I avoid removing because they control caster and/or camber and I don't want to spend $100. for a aligment everytime I have to do axles. Remember don't turn the outer tie rod end that's the toe in toe out.
  20. I seperate the outer tie rod end, the swaybar link, and ball joint. The hub swings pretty freely after that. One side of the pinhole is countersunk the pin comes out of and goes back in that side. I usually put the inside in 1st because its eaiser to line up the holes with the outer cv loose. Swing the hub out and install the outer CV. Have fun!
  21. GD you may be an rump roast but your a smartass! Well done.
  22. Thats correct it lets you know your getting low on fluid, the rear doesn't squrit but the front does, time to refill!! You can check the drivers side hatch inside the rear compartment where the jack is, if there is no tank in there then you have the wrong tank. My 97 outback and 97 legacy both have a 2 pump tank.
