  1. soap and water. maybe windex or other glass cleaner. once you use "keep it shiny and moist" spray/wipes or any conditioner, it only begets the need for more. your plastics will look good until the product wears off, thats where the degradation and erosion occurs and helps make the plastic more brittle. Honestly, bacon grease would work really well and smell good. a good substitute is finger oil, which takes time.
  2. the skagit river; its what makes a subaru, a submarine
  3. thats what they want you to think. degreaser makes tires look awesome, but also desrtoys them
  4. flight?
  5. rear main only if it shows weepage. personally ive never had a problem, but it seams folks install these wrong with regularity. might as well rip the cam cases off and install a new o ring (dealer only part) on each one.
  6. replace all of the parts Miles just mentioned. replace both struts though. ive been where you are. put in "new" (read: straight) stuff and then get it aligned, probably wanna find an alignment shop who has done soobs before. i also have a thread in the usrm that can lead you to aligning it yourself
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nmOMo4OPi4 RUSH TAPES! The force is strong with this one.
  8. aromor all type products DESTROY plastic over time. decades of detailing exp makes me aware of this. to the OP: im in tacoma, come take your pick of switches i have a pile of em.
  9. weird, ive never run into this and im into double digits on soobs. its gotta be a situational issue
  10. hey Twitch, what did Ken say about the ea71 pistons v the ea82 ones? Im piling up stuff to build a spfi high, but not too high cp ea81 this summer. Im glad youve got another ride to play with, I like youre threads. cheers, RV
  11. yes the resistor burns out. its a blue 2w resistor iirc. theres a thread in the usrm i think
  12. dude. its totally possible. I have a 91, same exact deal (except i have auto belts and you might not). Next time, take the clock out and jiggle it around, see those wires moving? the plugs up there. glad you got it sorted out tho. btw what do you mean "unrepairable"
  13. break them off, throw them away, you dont need em. i carry an extra set of belts, a 12mm deepsocket, and a 22mm. ive changed a timing belt on the freeway in 20 minutes. cheers
  14. open your glovebox, push in the corners and itll open all the way down. youll see the connector.
  15. umm we had hlas before 85. Even if by not much. (84 was the cross over for ea81s)
  16. My daughter is about to turn 4 and can already identify a soob purely on the sound. well done sir.
  17. looks kinda like an SJR to me, might not be tho
  18. full of info that can be found by using the keyboard and not creating yet another useless crappy thread that is all over the place. who cares about 13" tires no one can buy. this thread began as a redundant question and has morphed beyond that scope. there are tons of threads, diagrams, anecdotes, and wastes of time if you LOOK for them. I believe the gruff responses can be related to how long a person has been on here, and how many times we all have to see this question. I think making new threads should by more difficult than searching. then maybe people would do it more. Where is the gong button? I've got a mallet at the ready.....
  19. wedge the wheels? the bolt wont back out and fall off as long as you disconnect the coil wire. only bump it for a second. itll be broke loose. the important thing is to brace the breaker bar in such a way as to not let it swing at all when you crank it. ive done this to subarus dozens of times and the only damage was when i forgot to pull the punch out (and that was assembly, not dis assembly) you retain control if the coil cant fire the plugs
  20. please use the search function. short answer, no. welcome to the board.
  21. this is unsolcited, subjective slander, and is in no way pertinant to the discussion.
  22. i dont remember what trans you have, but if its a manual put it in 4wd(lo if ya got it) 5th gear w e brake on. if its an auto first of all, my apologies for having to run that, do the breaker bar/bump the starter method.
  23. franken motors run about 180 hp
  24. you can drop you engine xmember to "level out" the geometry. lengthened radius rods too. no matter what they are going to wear quicker than a stock rig. hth
