  1. i have a bracket set $20 shipped. if you are so inclined RV
  2. yes, however i think one from a 3 door may differ
  3. swap the mirrors, they fit and theyre cool. grab the trans, which one is it? the lsd your buddy has is a vlsd and isnt worth it, in all probability. as opposed to old soob lsd which are clutch type (and rebuildable), the vlsd is actuated via a viscous (V) fluid which wears out and is inserviceable. unless this unit has way low miles on it steer clear
  4. id like to add that there does exist a bracket (2 brackets actually) that came on non ac ea82s stock. it moves the alt to where your compressor currently is. this eay you can check your coolant w/o getting bitten by your alt fan. i dont remember having to buy a smaller belt, but i thnk the shorter of the two belts that are already there. my 86 gl already had the bracket, my 91 loyale did not. make sure to get the little washer that goes in there, its like 1/4'' thickor so. hth, RV
  5. yes. if you dont want bad karma remove the refrigerant by approved means. itll actually free up a small amount of power. the same thing can be done to eliminate power steering, if you were so inclined. a non ps rack is adviseable but i drove a 83 gl w/o ps hooked up.
  6. low end grunt goes up, gas mileage goes down. peak hp/torque are unchanged or changed very little. why do it? because the hitachi sucks. like really sucks. if it were up to me and my car id convert to spfi. it can e done for the same $$ or cheaper and it gets better mileage over the carb. you could also swap in spfi pistons which, iirc are higher compression. hth, RV
  7. :horse:sounds like ea81. what year is your soob? we need info in order to give answers.
  8. man, you had me fooled. i figured it was a ea81 STI intake
  9. check your fuel filter lately? that was my problem. hth, RV
  10. it IS a soob engine, so itll take some abuse but two oil changes worth of miles is hardly a testement to reliability. another thing you can do to postpone 'motor go boom' is install an oil cooler. and most ea82t savvy folks will tell you 'go to the dealer and order EVERY hose/seal for that motor.
  11. drop it out of an airplane. if you overboost that thing youre gonna wish you did. you wont find a lot of threads on bumping up ea series engines because its cheaper, easier, smarter, and better all around to ej that puppy.
  12. check w a timing light? tbs off a little?
  13. that looks strangely familiar. well done Tom!
  14. my old boss had one of those. make sure theres no cracks in stuff like the disty/cap. timing could be off and, iirc vacuum was kinda a pita on that thing. we did a bunch of work on it and it was still gutless. 305s, pfft. is your tbi/electrocarb doin its job?
  15. it is my understanding that you cannot run air suspension on only half the car. you either need to convert all four corners or replace with air struts, then the rears will likely blow up too. but yes you can use struts (at least) any gen1 (89-94) legacy. hth, and welcome aboard. RV
  16. if you can get to a sign shop ask to use some "rapid remover". let it sit for a minute and apply liberally. it turns the adhesive into a kind of snot like consistency. it can then be scraped off with a credit card or plastic razor blade (yes they exist, yes they are awesome). you then need to clean up the residue. if youre at the sign shop, use some application fluid. if they are tired of you asking for favors, use windex or the like. good luck rug RV
  17. where abouts are you located? im in parkland(near tacoma) and have spares for ea82 cars and time/garage space, should you find yourself in need.glad your car is alive, that TB stuff gets us all the first time (cuz we dont READ first:D) RV
  18. well its either the rad or hgs. ive nursed hgs for 12 months and then boomski. huge.. do you get steam from the exhaust? id replace the rad 1) becaause its cheaper than hgs and wont do anything but good 2) if it is hgs, at least youll have a new rad when you do it. that said, i think your hg is going/gone. i even know which spot. guess how. anywho ihth, and good luck
  19. you know what they say, "if it aint broke, it is now"
  20. ya, i gotcha. i just figured the tires would be collateral damage. if the other two are boned, wouldnt you replace all 4 anyway?
  21. im tellin you man, get out here. drive back. all smiles.
  22. if 4wd is disengaged, how would towing it w two wheels hurt it? this IS a pt4wd car right? ya, so i know itll spin one diff and not spin/wear out the other. so what. it a l series, bunch of miles on it anyway right? that stuff pretty stout. me if need be. RV
  23. also AFAIK, the adjustable struts are at stock height for non adjustable struts when all the way "up". whiteys' are all the way down and ive got lotso room. ill get you some pics.
