  1. This is quite the trip. I did it in a plane and big can once. I live in Frankin, PA and visited my aunt in Misoula, MT. I hope to make this trip to drive the in the Moab sometime.
  2. I called just now and checked the website. They have rockers and wheel well things (that part 54) and that's it. They have to order them, but they can get them. Thank you so much for this link!
  3. Anyone know of any place to buy new rocker panels for an ea82 wagon? or is this something that has to be fabbed up? Does anyone make these or repair them? As I have stated before I hate body work.
  4. I know this hardly will win awards for worst, but it was the worst I had ever seen and saddest too. I really wanted to have a turbo wagon. Here is the outside. Doesn't look to bad. Here is the inside once I pulled up the carpet and stuff. I ended up getting rid of it. It ran good and had all the features I wanted, but I just can't do body work to save my soul. BTW I kinda actually like the look of that one subieman posted. I would drive it if someone gave it to me. :-P
  5. Very nicee looking. I like those wheels. What are they? Nice brushguard too.
  6. Why not install a second resevoir on there. SPecially if you have a lift there is extra room. Set it up so you can carry two gallons of fluid onboard.
  7. Are these like the ones that you can buy at Walmart of Kmart? I had a set that would mold to the shape any door. One guy around here has them on every edge of his car, doors, trunk, hood, fender and so on.
  8. I am all about the the EA82 hood with scoop points and fender flares. Some nice louvered front fender already cut for large tires sizes and some rivet on rear flares that match in that nice blue color you got there would rock!
  9. Wish I had a sube to dig out. End of the month I will be back in a roo again.
  10. I have the equipment and the know how and the will to take peoples VHS and put them to DVD. I will gladly do it. SHouldn't be too expensive. Making a DVD is about $5 if enuff people want them. I can even crank them out one at a time if there is not to much demand. Just take a bit more time. Private message me if you want to mail me tapes or email me video footage you may have on your computer. The higher quality the better!
  11. I removed the AC from my 87 dl and just left one belt on running the alt and the fan. I later removed the belt driven fan and used elec fans. I just took out four bolts holding the ac to the bracket.
  12. I can handle up to 1400x1050 so stretch it out if you like BTW nice ride. Can't wait till I can get back in a suby.
  13. Saw a guy use some of that black lawn edging as fender flares on a truck. Turned out nice and it was flexible enuff to not get hurt if you hit something. I think that is what I will do on my next suby. As a note I think I have some of those rear flaps laying about here if someone wanted them. I had two sets, but I may have already sold one.
  14. Hey best place to get paint for you vehichles is Mr Chips http://www.paintchipkit.com/ These guys sell a kit that is awesome. It's for fixing rocks dings or door scratches or the occasional "tree whacked off my car while I was driving thru woods mark" Good stuff everything you need to repair your marred paint and not one of those crappy touch up brush bottles either.
  15. I would expect to see tons of video for those of us that can't make the trip.
  16. I found more rub on the back of the fender then to the front of the car. And basically I just followed the curve of the fender and brought it back more. I had some rub on the inner plastic fender, but I figured it wouldn't hurt and eventualy it did wear out of the way without hurting my tires. My tires generally only rubbed a full turn. The eastiest way to check to put the wheel on and check when it's turned. I would imagine a sawzall or grinder could do the same, or even a hacksaw if that's all you have. A dremel is only like 20$-30$ at walmart with the bits. It's small so you can be more precise and make it look nicer.
  17. 7 is deffinitely long sleeves and shorts weather. It's a Pennsylvania thing... you wouldn't understand.
  18. I did a 26.5 on a 3 inch lift and I had to trim bottom of the front fenders both in front and behind the wheel. Otherwise it rubbed when I turned the wheels. I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel and it took about 15 minutes per side. Then I used a hammer to bend the sharp edges back and make it look clean. I don't have any pix available atm. I was probably only about 4-6 inchs up from the bottom of the fender tho. Didn't take much. To the untrained eye it looked unchanged when I was done.
  19. Don't be whimps I once drove a lifted sube with a blown head 1,500 miles. Just pay the 100$ a year for AAA and go for it! Also, it doesn't hurt to have some tools with you at all times.
  20. Sorry I missed this post when it was new, but I am going to be building a new lifted wagon and I was interested in this kind of thing. I like the thought of a rear wheel drive wagon with a lot more height and some power to boot.
  21. I say anyone who can make a diesel out of ea82 or ea81 is a genius. I would buy two then promptly convert them to run on used frech fry grease. I could care less about the emmissions since we don't have testing here and enuff d*** trees and moutains to stop the stuff anyhow. Besides better to burn the old grease then to dump it in the river. I once read where a guy did that with a diesel volvo or vw. He would haul a trailer once a week around to all the mcdonals, burger kings and so on and take it home and run it thru some strainer/cleaner. Put a bit of diesel in it for good measure and run it.
  22. That's gotta suck. No one has said anything about my lift, in fact the one police station where I fix their computers thinks it neat looking. The inspection stations don't like that my tires stick out of the wheel wells 1 1/2 inchs. I just put the 13" on when I get it inspected. *shrug*
  23. I ran my gl-10 with the cruise on 80 for about 6 hours straight with no problems. I think rpms were between 3500 and 4000 that's with a full time 4wd 5spd 3.90 ratio
  24. The suby I just bought in new york had one of those rusty jones stickers on it and the rear shock towers are shot and the rear fendwells are shot. I once saw a Ford pickup delivery truck for them that was nothing but a seat and some glass.
  25. Skip, I want one! and I still want that seat of the pants we talked about ages ago for my DL wagon. SOrry been busy with the growths in my family and company.
