Wrist pins blocked. Shifted cylinder liner?
Most of the time when I've seen a spun cylinder sleeve, there's usually a crack in the block too. You're far better off finding a good short block and take the old one to the recyclers.

Roll call!
This is my 84 GL with 238K miles on it. I've owned it for over 9 years and I've put over 71k miles on it. Rally tire of choice is the Kumho Ecsta R700 165/80/13. This is my 94 Legacy GT. That's right is a Gen1 Legacy with a raised roof. It's been my daily driver for the 5 years that I've owned it and I've put over 65K miles on it in that time.

PRG event a great success for USMB members--RESULTS ADDED
GLCraig replied to edrach's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt was fun for the most part. I did have a couple of instances where my my tires bit and I got pulled into the deep stuff. I did see two [expletive]s cutting cookies in the parking lot as they were leaving. I hope no one from the ORV park saw them doing that.

knock knock under moderate braking
Okay, you really need to adjust the shoes on the side with the new drum. Subaru did not start using automatic adjusting drum brakes until the Gen3s came out, so the shoes are currently set for the old drum. You might as well adjust the opposite side while you are at it. At worse this will make your Subaru safer to drive but it may even resolve the noise issue. There are several posts about how to adjust them so just do a search.

knock knock under moderate braking
The damage to the drum was probably caused by the previous owner. The splines will take a fair amount of abuse before they let go. When I was working at a local Subaru shop, I saw 1 or 2 cases of this a year and when we would ask the customer if they played around in 4wd on dry pavement; the usual answer was yes.

knock knock under moderate braking
The Drum has a set of splines that the axle goes through; similar to the front hub. The splines will strip out if someone consistently drives in 4wd on dry pavement. Make sure the Castle nut did not loosen up. Did you properly adjust the brake shoes after replacing the drum? Now that you have a good drum, perhaps other problems are coming out of the woodwork. Check the U-joints of the drive line to see if they are wearing out.

Timing Belt 1998 Outback
GLCraig replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou might as well replace the water pump while you are that deep into everything. Also inspect all of the idler pulleys.

Possible Carb/Fuel issues
The secondary airbleed maybe a little plugged up. Hitting it with a little compressed air seems to cure those types of problems for me.

Arizona emmisions laws and DMV crap
Get an Oregon trip permit for the brat when you head off to Arizona; then you should be able to licence it there. Contact the Arizona DMV before you move and find out what paper work you need to file when you go to licence it.

2.2 Cam Sprocket Bolt Size?
GLCraig replied to Olnick's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's either 17mm or 19mm. If you going out to buy some sockets, the typical sizes on Subarus are 10mm 12mm 14mm 17mm 19mm. There are a couple of places were 8mm, 22mm and 32mm are used too.
