  5. WOW, that looks like some thick steel.I would think that the weak points now are at all of the corners of those plates.Being as how the unibody is not very thick. What thickness did you use? cheers

Nice work, I used to patch surfboards all the time.I like fiberglass, unless it gets hit by a tree.or road debris, or a shopping cart, or your buddies dumb rump roast....(when he leans on it) cheers
  7. The point is, you are not the first one to try an tackle this monster. We all have at some point thought about this, done R&D to make it happen, or flat out meltedd some ************ together to make it happen. It's an old hat, that you are trying to wear backwards.Still the same hat.
  8. And you would have to recapitulate the entire mounting system on both sides.;)Ask me how i know... Hey Torxx, I will be taking off my lateral links.Alittle worn, the boots are torn, but they do not make any noise. And for a fine upstanding guy like yourself, I would make a hell of a deal.:popcorn:PM me if interested mate. cheers
  9. Because they are running machined surfaces with bearings .Not metal on metal.Pretty simple really. You are missing the point. cheers
  10. I have never had vibes from my wheel spacers. And I have beat thhe ************ out of her . cheers
  11. Welp, pan back a bit and Identify that area for me LOL That can't be right side up !:-p cheers Edit:So the big vobration from the skateboard wheels was because it was like making solid mounts. So isolate your trans through other means, by basically making your own mount. You can do this by getting some huge rubber body mounts, and stuffing them in there, or just fixing the crossmember proper. What exact crossmember do you need? cheers
  12. We use Miller products at work.It really depends on what thickness you want to cut, your power source, and how big of a compressor you have. cheers You can buy a brand new Miller spectrum 375 for about $1300 here locally. If you look around used, make sure that you get one WITHOUT an internal compressor. Those do not blow worth a ************.. The 375 will do up to 3/8ths.Don't really have experience with tables, but it is likely unless you go pretty big, you will have to buy another anyway. cheers http://www.millerwelds.com/products/plasma/
  13. Les Schwab most likely won't touch it as it is modified. Did you look at your driveline?Ujoints will cause intermittent vibes. Your front axles would likely pull to one side or another, I am betting wheel bearing though. Put her up on jackstands and wiggle the entire wheel(tire and rim)If loose feeling there ya go.And I mean wiggle, not jerk back and forth. You need to be able to "feel" what your wiggling for. It will be obvious if and when you feel in comparison to another wheel that is proper. Also retorque your spacers.I never had to retorque mine, but I also torqued minbe to 100 ftlbs the first time I mounted them. It is possible that some of th estrut mounting bolts are loose. Go through and check ALL associated lift nuts and bolts before you go out again. With no luck there, bring your car down to OLy and we'll check her out. cheers
  14. This type of mod has been mulled over a million times. It will not work with consistent success. The only way to go down this road successfully is to utilize another hub and lockout entirely.Scott did one once.I imagine he stopped because it was not reliable.Or maybe that was just his welds.:-p:popcorn: Regardless, the hub was not designed to be used in this manner. You may think that it wil work from your own experience. But , it won't.Using an axle inside the spindle like that without bearings will give absolutely no consistent results. There are wear spots.period. You are not treading on new ground here.others, including myself have done tons of research and R&D.IT WILL NOT WORK the way you have it layed out. cheers
  15. Two words. Stand alone....... Second, awesome project. cheers:clap:

    ROFLMAO!!!!!!
  19. The way to search is to type in whatever brand name you are looking at and google will do the rest.I mean really, specifics?I have used probably 12-15 different sanders in different configurations.Much less how many years have passed in between, models change like socks in that ever changing world 'o' tool.. For all sorts of different things, from wood to fiberglass, and everywhere in between.I prefer Porter cable, but really like my new Makita. Technically, you are looking for a random-orbital sander... Go to a body shop and ask what they would use if it were electric, instead of air. If you really want to do it right, use hand boards to finish it. A little round orbital is going to remove alot of material,no matter what grit is used ...Just food for thought. cheers. PS.Like I said before, ALL of the major brands are made by like two manufacturers now...
  20. You need a spacer between the tophat and bolt.It is making noise.
  21. Buying cheap may not be the bestest.IE Harbor Freight Once you have a tool, it seems that you end up finding purpose for it.(If your ol'lady doesna find it first!) I say plan to go quality.Almost all of the major box stores are going to have several names made by a couple of manufacturers. I have had Porter cable(used extensively professionally),Makita(home use for just about everything), and my father has had Dewalt, Black and Decker, and Milwaukie. My best friend swares by Bosch. You can pay anywhere from 40 to 200 for different sizes. Why do you specifically want a round one? cheers
  22. I drove my Brat all over the NW with no prop. valve. And let it just be said that I drive my rigs pretty hard, and NEVER, I meanNEVER had an issue with brakeing.... Also never used one on Lilly, and have helped install at least three others that didna use it....... cheers
