  1. As you remove the nut it unstakes itself, when you torque the nut on you restake it with a drift punch. I can fully understand not re-using them but at the same time I dont think its the axle remanufacturers job to provide a nut it isnt a rebuildable part its either a consumable part or a re-usable part. It would seem like a small price to pay for piece of mind I just try to save a few bucks on my car repairs where I can.
  2. Are you drunk to be able to type that incoherrantly?
  3. Looks like what you need is a 1000' long extension cord and a sawszall. Start with the trees and make a path to get em out, then move on to chopping pieces off the cars. A rusty mess should at least cut fairly easily.
  4. John: Just take a 2x4 and paint it white. Use house paint for an extra added touch of sparkle. You know, like the one in your Avatar had.
  5. My friend Joel finished an SVX powered vanagon and I got to see it today. Totally awesome and paired to a Syncro Westy. KUDOS!!!
  6. There aren't many of us old School subie guys in Colorado or even worse in Steamboat which is about 3-4 hour drive from Denver but I think it should be a decent turnout all the same. Im putting it on the calendar but not holding my breath 100%. Would be a cool Birthday (12th) though.
  7. I think its McBrat that made that diagram but I dont think either of them is the type to be upset over getting credit for something.
  8. RedCone FTW. I have access to a beater car that I want to try that on...one that if I do roll end over end as predicted we can all laugh and drag the car back home or to the nearest scrapyard. HELMET REQUIRED HEHEHE.
  9. Thats great progress take a few pictures as it goes and have fun! I would come over but its kindof a haul.
  10. Hanging it on the wall and making a brat mural wouldnt be that uncool. AT least the piece would be preserved for a future brat to be resurrected while safe on the wall.
  11. Cuz he's so used to AWDPirates and thinks we are all fuddie duddies...which is kindof true. That forum is so fun sometimes. Offroad capable? Why not take the damn BAKPAK OUTBAK!?!?!? Now with crooked steering goodness.
  12. They add a sensor on the CV axle to trans area or make one in the speedo cable housing box, neither of which is entirely doable on a Subaru. You could add one on the driveshaft possibly. Smallcar.com sells one that might be similar in diameter to the outside of the driveshaft so you could bead it around the shaft and add the sensor. Product: http://www.smallcar.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=78
  13. Get a WRX headunit. The 04/05 might have weatherband IIRC. Plugs right in u do lose the clock though.
  14. I think 84-87 Brats have a speed sensor in the cluster. Its a matter of finding the wire and jumping across from there to the ECU speed sensor wire.
  15. Thanks for your responses. For now I am going to keep the 3at and the originality. If the governor and a modulator replacement for good measure dont make it drive somewhat respectful I will explore options then. Alloys are definately on the list. Im going to do a wheel restoration on a set of these:
  16. It would seem we need an international shipping specialist on the board. Somebody that would be willing to accept payment from one member, pay the auction transaction, have the item shipped to them in _____ and then ship it to you in (this case Aussie land). There have been items in Japan and Australia that I wanted and they wouldnt ship international either.
