  1. .... note the big LOL emoticon. I was kidding Justy's are cool too. Loved that pic of one that had ATV tires and no fenders.
  2. Air Fuel Spark Timing Find out which you are loosing That's about as specific as one can get with information provided . Anything else is just pure guessing.
  3. I ran Valvoine full synthetic in my old Cadillac engine. Never did me wrong
  4. Got any laying around? They arent' exactly in abundance or cheap when available
  5. ehhh okay, didnt know it was a gen1 brat. lots of ea81's have the pump back there too...
  6. Get the tires man. Tires are SO key. You can save up a little longer for the other bling while you wheel on those new tires
  7. You know you are doing something right when the roof is coverd
  8. As much as I love reading dyno comparisons I dunno if its really a fair comparison based on the drastic exhuast change. Still good to be reading XT6 dyno charts .... reading more close..... did you change intakes there and run these both on the same exhuast??? or is it just a comparison from previouse runs to your current runs?
  9. Heres a more on topic thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=221797#post221797 Now back to your regularly schedueld program.....
  10. 1) Typicaly its head gasket before head. Keep driving it like it is and it will be both Mine ran okay mixing oil and coolant. It's not really effecting the combustion process (unless water starts shooting into the cylinder) but it is drasticly effecting your oil's ability to properly lubricate. read: lots of funny lines on your crank, main bearings, cams, etc etc... 2) Not really one worth doing. Just pull them both off and do them both 3) It's all doable by the weekend warrior. Just upto you if you really want to do it. Heads can be done with engine in the car. I'd prefer pulling it and doing everything I could then but I've already pulled mine before and 'gone through it' so its alot easier than pulling a stock engine.
  11. Yeah it's not Pirate4x4's fault a few bad apples are rotting the whole bushel. Bound to happen with 40,000+ people registerd to ANYTHING. There is some really great information on their site. It is a great resource for the offroading community as a whole; not just big jeep duders (for example the info on there about steel). I just dont care to partake in the actually forum posting and such; all I could see come from it is me getting angry :-p That's more based on past experiences in friction/hostile environments like that; than on the PBB itself. On land use issues thats great to hear. We need more people involved to be sure. If only it was just the Rubicon in danger.... dunno if anyone else is noticing it but frankly we are getting robed. Both legaly and illegaly they are taking away our trails on national and state levels. I do my part as a Minnesota 4WD Association member and part of the Land Use commitee... but we need more!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are we far enough off topic LOL
  12. Hey Ken quit laying around on your side there and get to work on that hill
  13. I saw a pic on here of one mounted. Looked like they cut out where your spare tire goes and set it in front of the fire wall. Then packed snow around it LOL. Might have been 'do it sideways' on an ice racer? oh another thing I noticed about that setup was the minimal plumbing. Only a short tube from the compressor housing to the IC and then from the IC a short tube right to the TB.
  14. next time you post the word dyno on here it better have some print outs attached below
  15. Neat rig but I dunno if I like the moon rover setup so low to the ground there. Did you see that fully custom Samarui someone did up recently? Talk about MAD suspension travel!!!! It was really off the hook. They sure do use the :FU: emoticon a lot over there. I don't care for most of the company at pirate4x4. Just a whole lot of FU, GO BIG OR GO HOME, more money than brains mentality I dont need to associate with. I'm not basing this observation on one visit either...
  16. Swap to a manual overdrive (5 speed) if you wanna drop those RPMs. That tranny is just asking to break anyway so might wanna line one up and start aquiring parts now while it still runs fine
  17. Did you go with the EA71 pistons? How much did you mill off the heads?
  18. I'll send you one and you can be the first okay? Got a Volvo 740's IC and a SAAB 900's IC just wasting space.
  19. That really sucks man... worst part is just the fact that some #$(&*@#$) thought violating you was better than earning their own. What goes around comes around. You'll move on and progress in life while this theif will always wonder why they can never get ahead.
  20. LOL I remember seeing that clip on the movies you sent me. Man that was a scary 'drop in' .... couldnt belive the rear tires came off the ground like that! I thought (for a split second) it might go over too! Talk about pucker factor inside the cab there:lol:
  21. 1987 to 1989 GL Wagon 4WD Dual Range with EA82 SPFI engine would be my opinion to fit your needs. Plenty of room for a family. I'm 6'2" and have no problems with room. Cheap to buy one. Easy to work on (once you get some junk out of the way!). Parts arent that cheap for an old vehicle but compared to a new one they are cheaper. 4WD Dual Range 5MT tranny will get you anywhere you dare take it. Tough to find one that isnt ran into the ground or on its way out however. Another good choice would be a first gen Legacy wagon. You could get it whit a AWD 5MT tranny; while not as good offroad it will certainly get you where you need to go.... camping or more. The EJ22 MPFI engine in there is rock solid and again easy to work on. Parts are more expensive but I bet youll need less parts =P Again plenty of room (even more than the old GLs) Not QUITE as many bells and whistles as the old GLs (even the Legacy L models) but the L models do have 'power everything'. I've been very happy with both platforms and taken both camping, offroading, and driven daily for years. I stuck with the old GL because I wanted to make it my ORV and that just was not happening with the Legacy at the time. Good luck !_!
  22. Flowmaster is on point here. The Loyale is basicly a stripped down GL but a few more options than a DL. I'm very happy with my '88 GL as an ORV. You'll be ahead of the game starting with a dual range 5MT. If you can't then its all good.... I started with a 2WD and now it's full out ORV so it's not like a Loyale would be the 'wrong' Subaru to start with.
  23. Totally forgot about that dudes mint BRAT. Looked realy sweet on factor wagon wheels and no rust That was a really funny movie too. One of those completly pointless yet some how funny plots :-p Did you watch for after the credits when he rolls up on a valiant steed at the wedding? LOL
  24. .... if you have the money to make it work New air struts aint cheap! Guess what used ones are going to do?
