  1. I was wondering why no one tried the novel idea of using the 2.2 pump, does it not work or what? it would seem like the logical choice, but if no one is using it there must be an issue, eh?
  2. There clutch type, except the newer ones from the legacy on up, those are viscous(sp). there pretty standard in turbos, probably won't find one in any non, but they may have been an option, i think. I don't think they are to be found in EA-81's though, so any turbo between 86-90 should get you headed in the right direction.
  3. So I bit the bullet and bought access, no more library for me. Just an update, I'm in Detroit and I work for Autoliv, I got the 88 Offroader out of storage and am waiting on an friends Legacy and the 2.2 is making the transfer. the car is now close enough so that I can work on it, doin a lot of GL swaps, lights etc. I'm real excited, and just as soon as i get the parts car i'll be doing a complete write up for the engine swap, with pictures. On a slightly technical note, how many relays can you run off one wire, just the activation circuit, not the power to the component. I'm making a panel that has all the switches in one place, with all the relays right behind. The plan is to have the car clean and running for the Gratiot Cruise in June, it'll be fun to show off a Japanese car in Detroit, that is also an offroader. Move to OT if deemed necessary
  4. As always Eric, you are more that able to help yourself to any pics i have given you on the CD's, i don't know if any are too appropriate,(no trails) but if you want to, go for it.
  5. Akira you have hit the nail on the head, its going into the 88 Wagon, the EA-81 plan has exhausted my every thread of patience, too many issues, i figure starting over isn't too much of a stupid idea. XT-6 clutch is Highly reccomended, i'm only using a STD one because thats the one i already have lying around, but if i didn't i'd go for the XT-6. other than that my only worry is the engine mounts, and what radiator to use, that has got me in a conundrum.
  6. I don't have too much info on this, thats where Austin and Mudrat come in but i'll be doing the coversion, and i'll have lots of fun pics of it once all the pieces come together.
  7. What all went into the swap, i'm most worried about the issues of the fuel pump and what clutch flywheel combo would be needed, other than that i think everything else is not so hard to figure out. What problems did you run into with the swap, i want all the info, please.. the life of my baby depends on you. ok its not that bad, but spill the goods.
  8. I hate to contridict, but i'm almost positive that the XT-6 has lower compression then the EA-82
  9. I believe that the ER27 is only 8.5 or 8:1 not the full 9.5 like the Ea-82
  10. I think the plates are a good idea, I have USMB on mine
  11. I was listening to car talk a while back and there was a caller that was wondering about replacing an axle on a 1978 car, click said no don't fix it, but clack asked what kind of car it was, upon hearing that it was a subaru, they both agreed that it should be fixed.
  12. they make a cat delete pipe, i think Rallitek.com has them, there not too expensive, and you should get better flow from the section to boot.
  13. on a scale of 1-10 1 being open and 10 being locked, depending on the driver it could be anywhere from a 2-5, 2 being me driving and 5 being Zap, but for him, i believe he could put a buick on top of Rainier, without getting out to push.
  14. You might want to try the old gen forum, unless you know what you want to buy.
  15. did you get an alignment? that could help, my dad had a tracer wagon that needed an alignment every 3 months, of course me driving it sideways didn't help it track straight either.
  16. Hows about a meet and greet near the middle to end of October, or if people are adventurous, a subaru convoy to houghton hancock for the Lake Superior Pro Rally? its the 22-23? that weekend for sure but it could be the 23-24. Just putting that out there, want to make Lepetitprince feel more at home.
  17. Get into the motor and get a better cam, the exhaust is always a good place to start, but as with any engine, how much you play is dictated by how much you pay. you could get a Ram Engines long block with bing altitude compensating carburettors for 8,000$, but is it worth it? go with the webber and a better exhaust, other than that and you'll be spending big money.
  18. there's and XT-6 for sale in Grand Rapids, its about 2.5 hours away, much less than the 350, I'll see if i can make it up that way next weekend and get a phone number for you. it looks like it runs and drives, paint is funny and it has a stupid wing on it. but all that can be un done
  19. It probably wouldnt' hurt to get a different proportioning valve, I've heard both ways from very respectable people. in my experience though, my rear breaks don't seem to clean very well, which would seem to indicate that the back ones arn't getting enough pressure. talk with ken and eric, the've both got the rear disks.
  20. Having worked testing seatbelts for a bit now, I'd reccomend not changing anything that has to do with seatbelts. the amount of testing that goes into those things would astound you, Unless SOA has a conversion play it safe, unless you are 100% sure that your "engineering" can hold a full size sedan dropping from it, thats what you'd weigh if you get in an accident.
  21. Yeah, she'll drive around a parking lot, but she won't tear up a grassy field, I guess the offroad life isn't for everyone.
  22. Yep for the time being i'll be in michigan, but i'm looking for other work, Zap, maybe you could put in a good word for me.
