  1. Something to do with AC functions needing different inputs at various times, should check your wiring diagram for the AC circuit to work out how its done ... Got a multimeter ?
  2. Looing good - I know a few around here are also after these ... Only extra thing that I can think of - Did you check if a brake disc would fit Ok ... ? Keep at it & let us know when they ready ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  3. Yep - always good to have a spare hose & fan belt in the Kit ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  4. Depending on where you mount the control unit, I would splice them into that plug coming out of the steering column ... However if you want to get more adventurous and pull out the fuse box & find the related circuit then it could be spliced off there ... You'll need a wiring diagram to help identify circuits - there's one on here somewhere ... Cheers, Bantum ...
  5. A Large Flathead Screwdriver with solid plastic handle makes for a good stethoscope, carefully place on various engine parts to listen in while it's running. You can make out ticks, rumbles and gurgling noises if you know what to listen for ... Cheers, Bantum ...
  6. Don't forget the brake line balancers too ... !
  7. Yeah - something like that ... For my own research, I find using Google is the best for finding most of the good info that might be buried within pages of otherwise irrelevant stuff, just means it takes a bit longer to find it though ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  8. Yep, you'll need to match the ECU ( Engine Control Unit ) to the engine you are using. It is normally found mounted somewhere to underside of steering column in the L series & yes you should get the manuals specific to your car / engine to work out the intricacies. Can't hurt to do a bit of reading on here to see what others have done previously, it's a great resource of readily available info - that is if you can find it ... Cheers, Bantum ...
  9. Yep bit of a nightmare tyring to fix someone else's incomplete work ... You'll have to sort out what was changed in the swap & what was supposed to go where via the wiring diagrams ... Multimeter & test leads will help also, just have to be patient & go through each circuit to work out the bugs ... Good luck ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  10. Yep - nice work there Tom ... Might want to try something like this for the rust : Just dab it on & cover the rusty areas and it will stop it from getting worse ... Warning : just be careful where you do put it, as is acid based & will eat flesh ... Cheers, Bantum ...
  11. Wuh ? No such thing as 'air injection' on a EA71. It's more like suction ... More info can found here : http://www.autozone.com/repairguides/Subaru-ff-1-1300-1400-1600-1800-Brat-1970-1984-Repair-Guide/Exhaust-Emission-Controls/Air-Suction-System/_/P-0900c15280065a42 Do note that not all engines came with these manifolds, as it was to meet emissions stuff so can be deleted. Have you got a workshop manual ? that would be your best first port of call ... Cheers, Bantum ...
  12. That will depend on how much 'meat' there is left in the headbolt, how far did you drill into it ? P.S. - Got any photos of the damage ?
  13. Some basic diagram found here: More info here : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/gallery/album/309-electrical-diagrams/ Cheers, Bantum ...
  14. Show us the damage & we might be able to work out what the next move is ... Add : It'll depend on how far you drilled through it - Bolts can be replaced, but If you drilled through any water passages ... :/ Ciao, Bantum ...
  15. Looking good, got any plans to Gold Zinc Plate them ? Will need to see some installed pic's ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  16. An 'Off White' would be the closet match, you can get spay cans done with colour to match, just have to find a place that does 'em ... Do all the prep work yourself, save a few dollars in that alone - just hard yakka though. I'd do a full set so you don't have to worry about colour matching & to be thorough, remove the tyre from each rim & clean up the insides as well ... Cheers, Bantum ...
  17. Awesome ... I'm sure you have made considerations in the change to C of G with the increase in height ... I'd also increase the Tyre Size along with Track Width to keep it stable. Ciao, Bantum ...
  18. Another OBD II scanner : V1.5 Super MINI ELM327 Bluetooth ELM 327 Version 1.5 OBD2 / OBDII for Android Torque Car Code Scanner This one has bonus in that it can be used to connect directly to your tablet / laptop ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  19. Thanks Grayfox, Have downloaded Tourqe on the tablet & had a bit of a play with it - might work if I can find the right reader for my ECU ... It seems that there are a few different types of OBD II readers out there ( Plus they are not all Equal ) very hit & miss affair to get the right one ... So it depends on what the manufacturer has / has not used, in the case of Subaru - the best fit looks like one of these : V1.5 Super MINI ELM327 Bluetooth ELM 327 Version 1.5 OBD II for Android Torque Car Code Scanner P.S. - I would like to know more about OBD II protocols too, got any more info on them ... ? Ciao, Bantum ...
  20. Well there ya go, mystery solved ... Them 5 holes in hub would be for park assist then ? : Looks like the outer countersunk holes on disc are only there to hold it in place - So a nice to have item on hub, but only if you want them ? + one more showing how its done ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  21. Them small holes in Hub are not meant to line up with any others, it's so you can pull them apart when you need to change a disc etc. ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  22. I'd note also missing from that drawing is two 6mm threaded holes - for removing brake disc, which should be a press fit ... Getting there ... Ciao, Bantum ...
  23. Hi JesZek, I've also been researching OBD II stuff myself and came across this thread ( some useful info right here ) & have a query for those might know : Bits I already have on hand : I have an Android ( 4.4 ) tablet - Mid-782 with USB & Bluetooth & Loaded it with Torque ( lite ) OBDII ... ECU I have is possibly for an EA82T, with case codes of : 22611 AA400 + A11-000 R14 ... I'm thinking of using one of these : Found here : http://www.obd2tool.com/goods-4475-E...h+Android.html Comes with software to download onto your phone / tablet then you can do all the monitoring stuff ... Hoping this will work as a monitoring system ( not controlling ) with more details on my proposed system to be found here : http://www.ausubaru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23077 I'd be interested to know if this combo will work, or am I'm wasting my time ... ? Cheers, Bantum ...
  24. The FF-1's 50 th birthday is coming up - some of us are wondering what's happened to this ? Ciao, Bantum ...
  25. Yep could undo housing & try from underneath, but for peace of mind and to make sure there's no damage to the clutch - I would take the engine / gearbox out for inspection / clean up & refit. The Timing hole cover got me first time round too ... ! Cheers, Bantum ...
