Converted to the Subaru! poll
Sweet82 replied to Gravityman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
After I had been driving mine for about 15 years, my mother and sister both bought Subies a, wagon and sedan, I don't know what they sold to get them. But I was told it was because my car just kept going, and going...(still going at 22yrs). My neighbor bought a 01 Outback for his wife after I bought my Forester. He sold a Suburban for the Outback. Yes, I talked him into it... Same neighbor got a Forester for his mother in-law to keep her safe in the winter. He did this on his own. A guy at work sold his F-250 for an outback sedan, and yes I'm responsible... All of the above still have their Subies! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
I'm sure I have some sort of grounding issure although I thought I kept the harness in good shape. I guess I missed something. It would be nice to know if I smashed my brake lines while out playing...... What if I ran a new wire to the dash and by-pass the old wire? does the old wire go to anything important other than the idiot light? Thanks, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

2 questions
Sweet82 replied to Spazz698's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
A couple thoughts... Typically gas gauge floats in the tank are slightly off the bottom of the tank. So even when the float is no longer floating on gas, there is still gas in the tank. I put a new sending unit in one of my cars and bent the float "up" a little so even when the gauge says I'm out, I'll still have some on the bottom of the tank. The other thought is that tanks are not symetric on the top and bottom. The bottom of the tank may have contours in it to make it fit over the diff or other things on the under side of the vehicle. The result of this is that you get an accurate gauge reading on the top half of the tank and... you may get what appears to be poor mileage on the bottom half of the tank? Just a thought, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Rental Subaru

A few years ago we got a Forester as a Loaner car from a rental company. Of course I felt obligated to "put it through the paces". I had it up in the mountains on a switch back road. I was going UP hill, around a corner, on loose gravel, floored! from a full stop. I could not get the wheels to break loose Now I own a Forester Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Need new engine. What should I get?

Am I seeing double Or did you post this in two places a once Wonder which form will give you the best advice? Older or Off-road? -
Make a "Sink Trap" in the bottom portion of the snorkle so the water settles in the bottom. You may be able to work out some sort of one way valve like swimming snorkles now have? Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Needs a Snorkle 01 Forester--Needs a Snorkle

You might consider an EA81 like the one currently installed in there. They are tough/cheap/desigen for that era of vehicle and the hard parts of motor swappin are already done for you? An EJ22 is a great motor but getting one and hooking it up to run will cost a bunch more My two cents... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester ***Welcome to the board***

Ok, When I built the buggy I transfered the complete (well almost) wiring harness to the buggy to make things simple. When I got it running the brake fluid light on the dash came on? I have plenty of brake fluid? Lots more on the garage floor This light should not be on? So like anyother good old fashion Subaru Driver, I just unpluged the connector to the brake fluid resevor. Many month passed and I was messing around under the hood last Sat. night and I decide to look at the issue again-- I'm thinking maybe someone came in and fixed it while I was off doing other things. Now when I hook the brake fluid connector up.............My headlights turn on I'm thinking I have some sort of grounding issue? Any Thoughs? Suggestions...Insults....Anything! MOAB meet April 15, 16, 17.

If you camp near Kane, put it on your list of trails. Kane Creek is easier done from the other direction (Start at the top and head to campground). There is a nasty, long, up hill, bolder section, right along the cliff in Kane that may trip up a Subie if you start from the campground. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
If your looking for traction on or off-road....wheel speed is not the ticket Spinning your wheels does not give you traction. Many folks think wheel speed it the key. Baby the gas and try to get your car to move without spinning a wheel. This is easy in a newer Subie!

In the button bar there is a "search" button that is the ticket to your searches. We don't mind answering questions that have already been asked. This is not the Pirate board! Folks are pretty good natured here. Welcome! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I just looked in the brochure section here on the board and the 1991's had an OHC engine? Was there any changes from 1991 to 1992? Good Luck Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

My Fuel pump had an intermittant short in it that drove me nuts It would just die then for no reason at some point it would allow me to restart and go on my merry way :-\ The dealer hooked up a light to the fuel pump to see if it was the cause of my problems. It worked...the light told the tale of what the pump was doing? My bet is the fuel pump! Your Fuel Pump Control Unit may be on the fritz but my experience is that they fail or work, none of this work not work stuff... Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I have no preference. What ever the guy at the Checker / Pep Boys has seems to work fine for me. Replace them both if your going to replace them... Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Dynomax Turbo Muffler for RX Turbo

I'm running one of those cheap "Cherry Bomb" mufflers. I think it sounds great. And to make things worse.....I'm running mine in the reverse flow direction Runs great backwards! That was the only way/angle I could get it in. I think they are great mufflers. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
I fell in love with my Hatch back in 1983 when I found it six months old. I have driven the car ever since. I've never had any real problems and it just keeps on going.... A buddy of mine is a car dealer, always pressuring me to get a new car. My answer was always the same...."This is the car I want to drive".... Why? It does everything I need a car to do. What more can you ask for? Now it's body has changed but it's still the car I love to drive... My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I love dead threads! As for the dash and center consul, it reminds me of something in front of my computer I use for driving games. I pass. I agree the B9 convert is (grill) just plain ugly! With a different grill it may have a chance however the SUV version is beyond repair. It's just too ugly! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Good to have you here! You can't welcome yourself:rolleyes: Check the bylaws but, I believe it has to be voted upon If a two/thirds majority agrees then you'll be officially welcomed and get a free 2005 WRX Sti:banana: However if it's less than a two/thirds majority then you get nothing but membership and questions answered I voted yes! I got way too many trips planned this year spring. Moab is looking like the 1st of April now and again at the first of May. I also have a San Rafael cycle trip in between times.... I'm trying to shuffle my schedule to hook up. Who knows what my schedule will be... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -

I think there is some space just below the headlight sockets? Prolly enough to route a tube? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
