What car are we talking about? Inquiring minds need to know! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I have an 01 Forester, and I have contests with the kids on how far we can be away from it and still get it to unlock/honk. Our Forester will work several hundred feet away. Enough that the people next to it have no idea why it just honked? Are your batteries good? You should have better range? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I have a Draw tight hitch but, I'd think because of it's shape it would only be good for this model. I'd think you would have the same basic problem. A dealer could probably tell you what years your hitch would also work on. I'd bet it's would only work on the same body style of car as what you have it on. A hitch dealer is the answer. I've towed, snowmobiles. lawn tractors, motorcycles, boats, buggies...etc with my Subarus without any problem. I'd keep everything within the weight limits of the hitch, trailer and your Subaru, but I never hesitate to tow with my Subies. I use them as Sport Utility Vehicles! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Hey Guys, The SubaruHummer is a Rhino kit with some modifications. I wanted to make the Hummer also, but I couldn't justify the cost and shipping expense of the Hummer front hood section. It would have made the buggy an expensive build. At the time, I was looking to get around rust issues of a car with a perfectly good drive system (without spending big $$$). Mudrat suggested the Rhino kit rather than lifting a rusty sub, because it may be a waste of time. I'd tell you to build one! As far as I know I have the only one in North America. It would be cool to get a group of them assembled. The buggy is registered Off-road as a 2004 Rhino. On-road registration would have required substantial modifications (wheel wells/fenders etc...besides insurance, emissions and safety inspections). It's an off-road buggy! Before you start one let me know, there are some problems with the RHD to LHD conversion etc... There are also a bunch of modifications that you may want to do to the plans before you start the build. Compare these to the Rhinobuggie Bandit pics http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&page=1&sort=1&perpage=12&ppuser=584&= http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo21 http://www.rhinobuggies.com.au/prod05.htm $1,500 as it sits:eek: Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Becareful with the plastic panels and plugs, they get real brittle.... You may find one of the plastic keepers on the lock mech has failed too... Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -

heater problem 86 spfi a/t sedan, fan does not work
Sweet82 replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There should be a clip just off the blower motor that you could tap into to see if the motor works. My guess is the motor works great and the resistor is toast~ Good Luck Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--just hooked up the blower yesteday--It's cold! 01 Forester--you could cook thinks with this heater! -
Does anyone tow with a 1.8L FWD wagon?
Sweet82 replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've towed Hobies, cycles, snowmobiles, lawn tractors and junk behind my 82 GL with no problem. In fact the low gearing of the car actually helps you tow better. I've never had a problem but, I have never towed anything very heavy. What are you thinking of towing? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--towed all kinds of crap--waiting for a hitch to be installed again 01 Forester--towed "Summer" before it was finished. -

Messed with the heater in the buggy so it blows HOT air instead of COLD air. Not going to have a hot cold switch. Going to be left on HOT and cable removed! The buggy has plenty of cold air available without the heater. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
I guess that makes it "Hammer Time" Beat that into submission!

Welcome! I wish I had that kind of ride when I was 18. Keep "Her" up and she will treat you well! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
I added Ebay, Keyless to my 01 Forester (which are listed as std. equipment). It took more time to find the clip than to install the box! 15 min. tops! I got mine used from an Ebay JY sale. Got Ebay remotes too. It was a unclip the old box undo the mounting nut, install the new box, reclip, put nut back and tighten, install for me. It has been my experience that, with Subarus, all options are pre-wired and all you have to do is locate the place and the wires and your set. Charm---EBAY $10ea Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer, no options! 01 Forester, Keyless + remotes, Security system, Wood dash, Gauge pack, rock sliders, spoiler, push bar--all subaru factory parts installed by me---easily

My Forester lights have never been switched off since I don't have DRL. I only wish I had them I'm willing to pay for replacement bulbs more frequently than if I left them off. To me it's worth it to let idiots know where I am. However having said that, I have a Trooper that does not have DRL or a door switch to turn off the Headlights. I don't use the headlights on that vehicle because I know I'll leave the lights on. Wonder if that makes any sence? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--630w shining forward. Has no low beams. 01 Forester--no DRL! other cars...
