  1. Welcome to the board! You have come to the right place! Having said that.....I can't advise you on changing the belt. I've never done it on a Subaru. I did the belt on my Trooper and I started by removing the front half of the car Hope thats' not the case for you! But I'd bet someone here will have the answer. Welcome, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer---no timing belt :-p 01 Forester---new timing belt
  2. Can you make the existing hole round and put a rubber plug in it? It would functionally become an inspection port? I looked at doing that on my Trooper??? Ended up not having to Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  3. Your clutch adjustment is the problem. Your HH is just one of the symptoms. Adjust your clutch first to where it feels right. Make sure it double nutted on the end where you adjusted it. I had mine done years ago and the next morning it was doing just what yours is doing. The adjusting nut was not doubled (locking it in place). After you get it adjusted properly then remove the HH cable permantly! It can be a real hazard off-roading as it will give you unanticipated results trying to roll backwards. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer W/O HH it's entire life! 01 Forester glad not to have one.
  4. I have one on my Forester? Subaru sells what the call a "brush guard". It's nothing more than a thick piece of plastic to mount fog lights on. I think they have to have it that way so it won't affect the air bags? Scorpion in AZ sells metal bars for Outbacks. http://www.scorpionsubaru.com/photos.htm Good Luck, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester ...Check with Dr. Outback for some blowout factory Subaru deals....

  10. I'd rather just sit around collect some welfare and wait for "Ed" to come knock at my door with his homies (the prize patrol).
  11. In 4wd your rear wheels are trying to pass the fronts if you have a D/R and a 3.7 diff You'd probably hear your drivetrain trying to compensate for the difference in speed. Churping rear wheels? You may be able to jack the car up and see if the front and rear wheel move the same speed in 4wd.
  12. The oversized tires are the key to it's ability. Note the angle of approach is all most unlimited. It didn't even struggle over those rocks!
  13. I'm betting "120k or bust" Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I have only been to the dealer once for a repair.... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 121k 01 Forester 49k

  22. So....... Which gears are regular and which are low range? They kinda all look alike to me It would be cool to know which gears do what? Anyone capable of labeling those parts? Trannys are over my head! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  23. I may have my old Clarion still hanging around (from my 82)? If it's still around it's yours. It will fit in the stock radio holes! I'll check and see if I still have it if you want it? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--no need for a radio anymore 01 Forester--Sony replaced Subaru--won't fit in your stock mount.
