  1. Awesome i was kind of hoping that someone would tell me that, i was just afraid that it would damage the integrity of my front end, but 15lb sledge it is
  2. Hey guys I want to build up a brat with a swapped ej22 turbo as a rally racer but was wondering how well they hold up and if the hatch or the wagon or anything i'm forgetting would be a better option. Also i just want to hear everyone's opinions.
  3. I would go ej22 with a newer ej tranny, the ej25 is an interference engine which means that if your timing belt happens to break, your pistons are going to slam into each other leaving you completely screwed and having to basically rebuild your engine. The ej22 on the other hand is a non interference engine(you should still change out your timing belt though). personally what i would do is go find an ej22 turbo from an old legacy, i believe the best years are around 92-94, there's a thread about it somewhere, shove that bad boy in there get around the same power for a lesser cost and less worry about having to rebuild your entire engine. Did not see how old this thread was sorry for the revive
  4. Thanks man, i unfortunately am going to have to get smaller tires though because the rub on the front is just too much even with the spacers, anyone know of a way to get rid of this insane rub?
  5. Havent had time to cut out the quarter panels yet. BUT SOON
  6. i would just jack the car up on one side and borrow a pressure washer from a friend then blast it with a wide fan tip, that's what i've always done and i've never had a problem with it
  7. It took me three different gl wagons to find my long lost love but I have finally found my keeper, 86 gl wagon with a 5 speed d/r got her lifted on a cheap DIY lift mainly just so I could get her out of my driveway and drive it around, got some 31" tires on with 2" wheel spacers and a four inch lift( 2 stock 2diy lift and yes I extended my steering shaft). More to come as I modify and pictures as soon as I have all four wheels on
  8. I got a guy coming to look at it on Monday but if he doesn't want it I will post some pics
  9. Just lifted my 86 gl wagon with 2 inch tubing crammed underneath it and then added on the stock 2inch lift 2 inch wheel spacers and 31 inch tires literally crammed underneath it (with some persuading grinding and sawzalling of course) Now i'm just getting ready for the ej22 swap and then i'll be off roading with you guys
  10. damn well that's a bummer since they look so cool, thanks for the response uberoo
  11. it may be called something else but i saw a guy with a truck with this suspension system that as he accelerated the beams attached to his body and wheels came inwards launching his lift up to about 3 feet but it sat with only about a foot lift, it was honestly one of the coolest things i've ever seen. I Asked him what kind of suspension is was and he said i beam
  12. Has anyone ever seen i beam suspension on a subaru, i've looked around but have not seen anything please post some sweet pics if you have them
  13. There is one company that is selling water carbs that use the HHO method but it costs 800 and to me that's not worth it, but I've seen this method work wonders in fact my buddy has a van that runs purely off the stuff and it chugs better than it did with just gas, I've also seen people fab a second alt bracket and cram a second alternator so that it doesn't bog down their battery power. In our kind of cars since our body's and engine weigh nothing I believe it would do tremendous things
  14. A good way to get better torque and power is to do a HHO addition, it's super simple and almost doubles your mpg and adds significantly to your torque and horsepower PLUS you can wire a switch to your dash to flip it on or off, if you need any help with this project feel free to pm me
  15. Wait I think I need to reword my post couldn't I just use hockey pucks as the spacer? Wouldn't it be the same thing just with a softer material? I understand that I would have to cut the rubber to the correct shape and that I couldn't just cram a whole puck in there but wouldn't it be doing the job? And also I looked and searched for a long time and found one post that no one had replied to nada bunch of others that mentioned hockey puck lifts but nothing more than a couple words about it
  16. i bought it for 600 and was trying to get that out of it but im flexible
  17. so i have an 86 ea82 gl wagon that i want to lift about 2 or 3 inches (for now) because my buddy just gave me his old toyo alloy wheels and tires and i want to cram them under my 4x4. ANYWAY, how bad for my car is a hockey puck lift, i've heard that they fail if you don't do it carefully but i feel like that is the case with any lift. thanks for your time.
  18. bought it dont need it, its got some rust on it's drivers quarter panel only 115,00 on it's ea71 engine 4x4 trans (single range) but the rear passengers side wont engage with the 4x4 runs and drives but has some dirt in the carb which makes it so you have to rev it to keep her going
  19. You have all convinced me to just sell my wagons and get a 5 speed 4wd wagon and lift and swap the engine with the profits, also thank you all for your truly awesome feedback and knowledgeable answers
  20. . So I will have to get a different gas tank aswell?
  21. It's an 84 gl wagon, also does the two door version have the same length drive shaft?
  22. So if I need new spindles and such should I just try to find an xt6 and use it's spindles and hub so I can get the lug conversion?
  23. So i just bought a new gl wagon because i was given a price i could not refuse for a car that was worth double if not triple what i paid. The only issue i have with it is that it does not have 4wd which is a total bummer. Is there any way to convert this beast of a car to 4wd? im planning on lifting it already so the clearance shouldn't be an issue but please correct me if i'm wrong
