  1. Yes it should come on. You may have a sticking boost control valve (forget the exact name right now).
  2. AT the time most pickups were full size and getting 13-15.
  3. ABS in gerneral does not work well on icy roads, and i will not get into the ever continuining debate about subaru ABS. ABS is for more rain and slush then anything else. You have a manual so really you should not have the usual abs "issues" that others seem to have since you have far practice in down shifting and haveing two ways of putting the car in N to hel the abs operate. But yes you have the two issues and one sensor.
  4. Now three people have stopped by my house wanting to buy the Justy, and it isnt even running. One wanted him for a winter car, no way in hell, he is rust free!
  5. It regulates pressure. It does not have an open and closed, it has a partial flow and full flow position. I can not tell you any more unless I know from where on the car it came from.
  6. You didnt quite answer my question. Fill procedure for any car: Remove cap Start car fill cooling system Wait for t-stat to open (will be a rush of coolant maybe some overflow) Top off coolant fill resivoir to hit line Replace cap, drive, let car cool off Check coolant Sounds like you had an air bubble.
  7. Hrmm is your clutch slipping and you don't know it? Is the bell housing as hot? it may just be a bad location, I don't know. Can you take a temp on it as hot to touch isnt really all that hot for a part.
  8. It may not be closed by default as it can be a check valve or reducer valve of some kind. From where on the car was it located.
  9. Has anyone checked to make sure thier tires match and are equally worn and inflated?
  10. You dont need to start the engine twice a month, just cover the air intake so moisture wont get in it. Oil sitting for six years, I wouldnt drive on it as the additives may have broken down from being open to the air. The fuel vapors from the last operation and moisture can make an acid. Odds are you are ok. What i WOULD be worried about is the fuel system, coolant and brake fluid.
  11. Welcome. The car isnt all that foreign as it is built in Indiana. ALways make sure all the tires match otherwise you develop the dreaded torque bind
  12. Subarus dont burn coolant they tend to vomit it. Is it the proper cap? Have you given the system a really good flush? How did you fill the system? Any bubbles in the coolant after the car is warmed up How is the heat? Are the cooling fans in one peice and operative Is it a subaru t-stat (if they are available for this, I do not know).
  13. Check your alt output as the voltage flux can cause this. Also if your electric fan is dying and drawing too much current. I had this with a digital dash, i imagine it could happen with an analog as that is the only thig that changes that quickly with engine rpm. Even a coolant fault wouldnt respond that fast.
  14. If you have the room and clearance a larger high quality filter will do no harm as long as it has the same specs. Anything you can do to add oil capacity is a good thing.
  15. Battery and or battery terminals, how old is the battery
  16. I'm going with a bad clock spring. This is the only moving part which could come and go. An OBDII reader ONLY reads engine related codes, nothing else. There is a way to pull these codes but like the dealer said, the fault has to be present. What happens when you turn the wheel lock to lock or bang on the wheel or column.
  17. 99 is the year of bad spedo heads. You have two issues. One is the one of the two speed sensors, the other is the spedo. Take the spedo apart and clean the contacts (easy if you ever played with lego toys).

I wouldnt do this to a car personally. Plowing snow is very hard work on a truck, let alone a car.

I use the three ton ones from sears myself. That is three tons per set which is more then enough for almost any car or suv. They are cheap and a good name
  20. Well if it hasnt been replaced in ages yes.

  22. Someone else want to talk him through this, i have a nerve injury and can't type well tonight.
  23. I've never beleived the heater core theory myself, I just think those people never ever got all the air out of thier system.
