  1. 1+ disconnected IAC hose, the 1" dia. one going to the air filter box. Had the air filter cover been removed before this started?
  2. I'd stay with the old style. I have never seen one fail like that. I pull spares out of the yard when I see them exposed by other pulling parts already. As others have said compress slowly!
  3. Yep, always check the radiator level when cold in the radiator as well as the overflow tank. I picked up a used Subaru some years ago. Overflow was full and full of black oily stuff. Radiator took over a gallon. When I started it with the radiator cap off it looked like Old Faithful. If the PO didn't know about the issue, I consider the engine junk as them most likely have overheated the main bearings.
  4. Halfshafts if the boots are good and there is NOT excessive play they should be good.
  5. Also take a good look at the half shafts CV Joints. They are usually not an intermittent failure item, but worth a look.
  6. I've thought about them many times but when I compare it to the ease of maintenance on my 90 - 2000 2.2 I don't make the leap.
  7. 1+ Lucky TX had to say. He's aware of the future maintenance that may be needed. Testing is not %100 either way. I'm sure you're passing along the Subaru at a fair price to a friend so be happy you have a new Subaru owner in the gang.
  8. A nice 95-2002 would would last for years at a 1/4 of the price.
  9. Fronts almost any seat will fit. Yards are not selling seats with airbags, at least in CO. If you find a good seat with an airbag, remove all the tags and wiring and then they should sell it to you. Rears will have to be from an Impreza platform. Forester seats are about an inch higher off the floor. You may have to swap over the seatbelt latch from your old seat.
  10. Drop in a used 2.2 and be done with it. I've been happy with every swap I've done.
  11. Yes I've had it happen on motors that other have done a TB on. I have a few spare blocks that the parts bolt to. As others have said, it bolts to the block and is easy to change out.
  12. I put the full aluminum one in my 2006. The fan assy would not work, but I had older independent fans that went right in. Also when I did mine, just moving the PS hose caused it to suck air. I put some clamps on the hose and it solved the problem. You may want to change the hose.
  13. Oil leak. It's venting into the block. The PVC valve is controlling how much air goes in there.
  14. Easy to pull the motor and wire it direct or read voltage under load. I have spares if you need one. Larry
  15. It goes down to the air oil seperator area on the back of the block, which goes to the oil pan. Yes they often get very brittle from the engine heat. I've found the IAC hose is a perfect fit. When I'm in the self server yards, I'll pull a couple. You get 2 breather hose sections from each IAC hose.
  16. Subaru's are like legos, which is nice. You will run into the scrap rule. As soon as you scrap it, a week later you or someone you can help will need it. But you can't keep everything.
  17. Sounds like the wrong bolt in the Starter position when he changed the transmission. Single washer, ground bracket, starter, trans and into the block. You could pull the bolt from the yard if you have a self serve yard near you.
  18. That Link should go into the Tech Articles. Someone put a lot of work into it! Thanks for sharing. 79, 83 & 84 1000SP - all sold now. Larry
  19. Get a Motive brake Bleeder. They work Great! https://www.amazon.com/Motive-Products-European-Bleeder-Pressure/dp/B0002KM5L0/ref=asc_df_B0002KM5L0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198100799464&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=902790476625103202&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014471&hvtargid=aud-801381245258:pla-380942840295&psc=1
  20. 99 Outback 5sp with a 95 2.2 engine swap. 96-2002 Impreza OBS Easy to work on! 2.2 keep on going and going. Easy to find parts when needed, which is not very often. < $4000 - cheap insurance.
  21. The rest of the system CAT back are the same. Look at your O2 Sensor placement. They do vary year to year.
  22. Cheap lift drive one wheel up on the curb. Snow may have those covered as well. Love CO. 54 today. Sweet might even make a Junk yard visit just for fun.
  23. What did you find at the latch tab inside the car under the dash? Shoot a pic.
  24. If you want to measure lengths and send pictures I'll see what I have. 80919 is my zip for shipping.
