  1. Pretty much bolt in. You will need the trailing arm to body bracket from the Forester or Legacy Outback so the wheel goes aft about 1/2" and is centered in the cutout. Also grab the lower aft trailing arm to hub bolt and use it for the top strut to hub bolt. The smaller dia, allows you to correct the camber by tilting the tire in all the way. You may need to change the top mount over from your old strut.
  2. Yes that's the knock sensor. The ECU will flag it and retard the timing, less power, bad gas mileage. Make sure the knock sensor is installed correctly and the wire leads are not tangled. Its a tight area, sometimes it's worth unbolting the throttle body (4 bolts).
  3. No one remember a coat hangar? Easy, use a windshield scraper up on the top rear corner of the window to lever the window of the frame. Take a coat hangar bent into a hook to open the door from the inside. 5 minutes and your in.
  4. Stock KYB's will be great. - Want more lift, install all 4 Forester Struts and springs. - www.nasonic.com has lots of Impreza info. I have stock STI struts on my 98 OBS, requires some modification to the mount but it rides great.
  5. All of my interactions with CCR have been very positive. Great shop, nice folks! That being said, I would put a used engine in, or upgrade to a 2.5. Talk to Joel at: http://www.greensyncro.com/Home_Page.php Great guy, Great shop. Larry
  6. Change it one or 2 more times to work all the old fluid out. RPM is correct I'd say.
  7. Nice article. My 98 OBS has been noisy for years. I'll get to them sometime.
  8. OBS, I have the same car and LOVE it. Mine has 320K on it. 2.2 motor is rock solid. Good Price!
  9. Not worth all the work required and you will loose the foam backing
  10. I'd pull it and make sure the cable and vent flap are working smooth and free. I have drilled a new hole in the gear for the cable on some. They are still working
  11. I'd stay away from the turbo's, much more to go wrong, harder to work on, and much higher chance of being run hard>
  12. I've pulled a bunch from yards, always fixed the fault. Does your low fuel light work correctly? Different sensor.
  13. Hose is cheap, would be worth a try. Used engine but in HI I'm sure there is limited supply.
  14. Toothed TB idler gear. I've 4 different folks have these fail in the last 6 months. New TB and full TB job had them all back up and going in a day.
  15. Subaru Seals are a good investment and plan on another t belt change 60K from now to be on the safe side.
