trouble deciding... keep which car? brat or imp
The Imp is probably cheaper to maintain and alot easier to drive on long trips. The Brat will nickle and dime you forever, you know that, not to mention the salt would kill it in a few years You might be able to get a bike carrier for the back of the Imp. The Imp can also be fitted for a/c, shouldnt be to hard to do.

5spd tranny swap BIG PROBLEMS!! revised!
Make sure the diff and tranny ratios match. The tranny is a 3.9, theres a tag on the back of the diff telling the ratio. Mick is spot on with the 4wd selector, if its inbetween 4LO and 4HI I dont think it will go anywhere. Even if the driveline is tight I dont it would bind stuff up that bad. Can you get it into 2wd?

Who knows of anywhere to find parts for pre-85 subis?
Might help if you were more specific. Theres a few folks here that have some EA81 parts, start a thread in the Marketplace. Ok, just saw your thread over there. But you do need to be specific.

looking for info on xt-6
You better strip it down to the sheet metal then, they are lead sleds. If it wasnt for the 6cyl, it would be like any other 80's Soob (slooooow).

newbie with a 1984 Subaru Wagon GL?
I saw that tape deck in Japan in 74, I think it was a Teac or Akai. I thought it was to complicated to work for long. The EA series are overhead valves, with the above explanations correct also. Thats why EAA builders like to use them in their planes. I dont know if you mentioned if the car was a manual or auto? If its a auto, there may be issues down the road with it. The govenors like to strip out and the vac modulators will leak too. Nice score on a Classic.

Question about hatches
That SRX is very interesting. If you look close it has rear disc brakes(2wd), 1.6L engine and theres something like a heads up display on the dash. And maybe a heigth adj seat maybe? Not to mention the headlight washer.

ER27 rebuild

Why TOD won't go away??!? Fixed
It most likely needs the oil pump resealed. Alot cheaper than replacing the engine. (edit) Oops, I missed that sentence. Might try some tranny fluid, let it run for a 100mi or so, then change the oil again.

prices and stuff for Xt6???
Both of mine need minor mechanical repair. $1000 for the first one, $750 for # 2. If its in great shape all around, expect to pay close to, if not more than $2K. At $2K it better have low miles also.

Fuel pump probs--89 RX......FIXED w/update
I think that if I removed the ground wire on the FP, it would still operate. I'm sure the major problem was the wiring harness plugs. I am aware that the grounds are a common problem and I did clean all of the ones in the engine compartment during the install. We now know that the plugs are also a item that needs special attention when doing engine swaps.

I think he took the pic himself, so its it was taken upside down

Need some 4wheel drive help guys
I think its electrical. I assume its a pushbutton 4wd and if so, theres a servo that pushes a pin into the transfer case engaging 4wd. Check to see if the plugs are tight first, if so you may need to replace it. I have seen one that didnt work at all because the pin was sheared in half.
