I swapped a EJ22T into my RX. The original trans had over 200K on it and was abused by the previous owner (me). It lasted 3 weeks after the swap. I had another RX trans that had lower miles and put it in. So far I've had no problems, but I dont do any hard launches either. I'm running a TD04 turbo with the boost at 10lbs, sometimes more. Look for my EJ swap in this forum.

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88249&highlight=TD04 Listen, if you want to keep it original, dont mod it. If you have any questions you cant find the answers too searching, send me a PM. WJM is also a good source of info for the EA82T, GD is not and is extremely biased, just to name a few things -

Their boxes arent deep enough for me. Ever look at the boxes from Costco? http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11485563&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|114|860|28175&N=4010045&Mo=12&No=0&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=28175&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&hierPath=114*860*28175*&topnav= They have a SS model also thats a bit cheaper.

If I get ambitious and replace a axle in my Hatch, I might come up.

After replacing the disty cap and rotor, timing it might help. -

If Bill is 6'6, then I'm 6'5 Anyone get stuck on the way down waiting for the tree cutters? It looked like a group of local(?) snowmobilers took it upon themselves to take down trees along the road if they looked like they were going to fall. I was behind our Ms Congeniality Forest Ranger and she was out helping move branches. So I guess it was approved, just rotten timing -
Neutral safety switch?

Got a few pics uploaded, I know theres more out there, so post em up. -
I've driven my Hatch over 1000mi on the hiway without a problem. Of course the short wheelbase has helped, but I try and drive it so my turns arent too sharp.

Dang Bill, thought you fell off the face of the earth It will be good to see you again, hope you can make it. I did make it up there today and Jesse was correct. The road is closed at the top of the Snow Park. I did not care for the snow conditions at all today. The snow was only 3-4in deep, but it was slush on top of ice because it rained last night. It was slick as toad snot and I was sliding all over :-\ BUT, I talked to a Ranger that was there and she said they planned on getting the road plowed up to the big gravel pit area. This isnt where we usually stage, its a bit further down. If we use this area, we will be sharing it with a lot of snowmobilers with their trucks/trailers. If the weather continues to be nice, the roads will improve and we might be able to make it up to the regular spot. -
What? You just posted about setting hydro lifters. EA81 and EA82 hydros are basically the same. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=975321&postcount=2 Dont you think he should have adjusted the one he replaced at least? And come on, the engine got hot enough to melt the timing belt covers. You dont think that warped the heads?
-
Well, you did a number of things wrong. 1. You should have had the heads milled to return them back to a flat mating surface. If the engine had been overheated enough to melt the covers, it certainly warped the heads. 2. You should have used new t-belts. Did you know how many miles were on the ones you re-used? 3. You should have but new seals in the oil pump. Not doing that could be why it seized. 4. Did you readjust the lifters after you re-installed the heads? Now, go back and do it all over again. I bet you do it right this time

Sadly, when you buy something off CL, its buyer beware. Always do a thorough inspection of the item and if you arent sure what to look for, have a friend who does go with you.

Click on the Shirley link, its a group of guys in Iceland. It looks like tire came off the rim in that pic. You cant drift a stock EA82 GL wagon, it just doesnt have the power to do it. Anyone can throw it sideways into a corner, if you have the cajones. You need a transplant, like a EJ20 or better to get the power.

I no longer have my 84 FSM, which goes into detail on the "test program". Maybe the digidash guru carfreak can look it up for everyone. I do have a troubleshooting schematic tho.

I may make a run up this week to verify what Jesse found. The Brat shouldnt have to big a problem -
I think thats the start up from factory sequence. Theres a way to reset it so that it displays normal. I'll need to check the FSM to be sure.
