  1. Sounds like plugged fuel filters or accelerator pump gone bad. I would check the filters first.
  2. Easy to work on. As long as you keep an eye on stuff as with any car you should be ok. As Nipper stated about the oil pump they are the weak point of the engine, I would replace it when you buy the car just for peace of mind. Great little cars though. My brother is looking for one as well right now.
  3. Yes do tell indeed. Do you have any alloy 13" wheels to get rid of or ea81 stuff?
  4. Yes very nice collection! That brumby looks very nice also! That wagon looks like you could really climb some massive sand hills with that powerfull ejtt motor in there!
  5. That is what freeze plugs are for. I am sure your engine is most likely fine. Lesson well learned though.
  6. That is really nice man! Looks even better than I imagined it would! Looks like alot of work already into it. I bet it handles nice with the tires and wheels along with that suspension.
  7. Just so there is no further confusion: Sohc- One cam controls the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves.(Both lobes one cam) Dohc- One cam for the intake valves and one cam for the exhaust.(per head)
  8. I guess it really should be colorado roo patrol.
  9. Ya me too. That sounds like a very unique project.
  10. Nice job Jay! We really need our own hatch patrol out here in colorado.
  11. ABS-Anti lock brakes . A feature all too foreign to us old sube folks!
  12. That should be a quick little car with that carb and intake setup! Really cool project indeed!
  13. SPFI-single port fuel injection (one injector for multiple cylinders) MPFI-multi port fuel injection (one injector per cylinder)
  14. Way to go! I own a '86 hatch as well. Same color too. Good project to start on.
  15. Looks like fun. Could benefit from some lower profile tires or stiffer suspension. Look at the body roll in the corners!:-\
  16. Great looking pictures. We don't have any snow around here yet. That brat with the big tires looks really nice.
  17. Good pictures mike! You should start a thread devoted to Jeff.
  18. Ya pepboys. I have gotten it from that store before.
  19. Fully sick mate! Really like the car as the entire package. I would love to learn more about how you built that tire carrier and the ej.
  20. I agree with your advice. POR15 is really good stuff.
  21. I believe all hydro lifter ea81 motors have the large valve heads.(At least all of the ones I have seen do.) I know that some solid lifter motors from around '83 1/2 to '84 started to come with the larger valve heads. I have heard that some even back in '82 could have come with the larger ones but that I don't know for sure.
  22. Thats news to me about Phil. I hope we get some snow in time for the little outing.
  23. I like to hear about this new stuff. Any chance we could get a picture of that sealed bearing kit? Sounds like it is for sure worth the money.
  24. Ya I would give almost anything to have one of those! Welcome Ozzie. I will have to take a trip there one day cause it sure looks beautiful.
  25. I am totally there. I am starting to look for that now also. I will weld the tabs rather than doing the complete swap. Any new stuff going on with the ea81t coupe?
