Pics of the new 7-passenger B9X

The pictures look a lot better then the artist drawings that have been in circulation.

I agree with mtsmiths... couldn't have said it better myself!

Looks like a cross between a Porsche Cayenne and a Pontiac Aztec. A face only its mother could love. I wonder what kind of face Saab's version will have.

It looks like the plastic tip applicator of a certain brand of tampon.

The body line of the rear door over the rear quarter section looks good. That's about it. 8760_image.jpg

What amazes me is that people get paid great gobs of money to create these ugly, distorted looking designs. Who, in his right mind, would look at the front of this vehicle and say "Wow, that's really a nice looking suv." Nothing flows on the front of this thing...it looks like some melted Chrysler grille design gone severly awry. And, by "new signature grille" do they mean this is what is in store for all future Subaru designs?????

Surely they showed the concept design of this mutant to test groups--you can't tell me Joe Public said he liked it. I was on a consumer survey list for over 6 months with Chevrolet when they were making final designs on their new Equinox--they asked for gobs of response before I ever saw anything publically publishe/advertised about that suv.

As far as the "I'm not really a truck" suv category, other than the Subaru clan this is a nice looking design. They look good up close. I'm scared to see this new Sube creature in person...

I'll have to say that there are very few praiseworthy automobile designs out there today. Part of the problem is they get art institute people to sketch concept designs and most of those folks aren't "car people".

Looks too much like a Murano for my taste.

On the other hand, I can see a LOT of people who will like the fact that they can get a Subaru that will actually seat more than 4 people comfortably.

My daughter has a Legacy Turbo Touring Wagon and 3 kids. When the whole family goes anywhere, it gets darn crowded. But she wants a Subaru...so she's stuck with a wagon.

I don't particularly like it, but I think it may be a huge seller!

I agree about the front being too much. But I think maybe it will grow on us.......well maybe me anyway. Not that Id buy one. I like sedans.

The new Subaru signature grill?

My mother said if you can't say anything nice, don't say it.

On the bright side, this is an aftermarket grill manufacturer's dream car.

It's not nearly as ugly as I thought it was going to be. Looks too much like the Lexus SUV to me.

I can live with everything but the front end. It looks like it has a snout. Not looking for anything right now anyways but eventually would consider a 7 passenger, maybe the Saab will look better.

That is spooky Qman.

Agreed, blech, ugly, Murano (even in the early drawings), looks like a snout (of a pug dog), not sure of the tampon reference.

Nothing flows (I can't even give them the rear door concession).

Fortunately, I don't need a 5+2 seater but if I did, I'd go for a real minivan for room's sake without the shoulder room constriction of a wannabe SUV.

Off road? This thing will be off road only while waiting for AAA to come and fix their flat tire.

But.... whatever sells!

.......and ugly cars like PT Cruiser sell

Yeah, like the Scion. Those things look like milk crates on wheels, yet for some reason, they sell like hotcakes.

Excuse me while I go puke all over the place.

I agree 110% Blech!!

Why couldn't they give it the front styled like the Legacy?

Two words: Fug-Ly!

Not only is the grille a crime against humanity, the overall look of the vehicle is porky and fat, like a minivan or the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe.

Subaru has had some great, unique designs in their time. I think the current generation of the '05-up Legacy is beautiful and distinctive. I also think the 95-99 Legacy was a very aesthetically pleasing design (I wasn't crazy about the '00-'04 design. The hood was too high and the ground effects appear too low.)

I sincerely hope this isn't the final design. If it is, I think they won't sell very many of these things. Even the Hyundai Santa Fe, as weird as it is, has some pleasing aesthetics.

BTW, I also agree that the Infiniti FX-35/45 is one of the coolest looking SUVs (or whatever the hell it is!) sold in the US.

I like it.... Hehehe. Not from the standpoint of I would own one, but because it's a newer Soob that has tonnes of room for improvment!!! I could seriously have a lot of fun making parts for that thing!

As sick as it seems, I can see that thing sitting on a 4 or 6 inch lift with serious mudders under it. Maybe some 31x21.50's!!

I was perusing around nasioc.com and found this pisture a few days ago. I was hoping that it was a photo chop job that some prankster had put out. The front end doesn't look like the drawing. The headlights are ugly. I was really looking forward to this being my next vehicle and it probably will. I just have a little hope that when it is officially introduced that the front end will be a little more stylish. I love the styling of the Infinity. The Murano is another matter. I think the front of it is ugly too. I will say this, and I think a lot of you will agree. I don't nessecarily drive subies for the looks. It's in the boxer engine and AWD system. If Subaru went to an I or V engine then they would probably loose my business.

Yeah, like the Scion. Those things look like milk crates on wheels, yet for some reason, they sell like hotcakes.

The Scion xB I like...this...uh, no.

I don't particularly dislike the looks of the B9X, but I do not drive Subarus for the flashy looks (one glance at my car will prove this to you ). Remember this is only the first revision of this lineup of cars. The market segment that this car falls into will determine it's future looks, more than anything else. I, for one, am looking forward to expanding Subaru's offerings. If the driver's seating position is something my wife can handle, I could see this sitting in my driveway easily. (yeah, yeah, I know: That is all it would do is sit. . . .)
