  1. Once turned the belt marks will not line up again, but the pulley and crank marks should be the same and/or maybe a 1/2-1 tooth off. O.
  2. 54.5 passenger side to crank 51 driver side. For fsm, 2nd page of New Gen FAQ sticky under my name are links. O.
  3. you don't have to pay. Go to 2nd page of New Gen FAQ sticky under my name there is a link to all Subaru models starting with jdm.........This has the BL series you are looking for. O.
  4. Make sure the cams bolts are tight first. Remove belt and compress tensioner. Reinstall tensioner and realign belt. Push down slightly on belt to hold position and release tensioner. All should stay in alignment at this point. Put large screwdriver into flywheel teeth, so it butts against the inspection hole. Have some else hold the brake while you tighten the crank bolt. O.
  5. More than likely it's the front seal, not the oil pump itself. You can remove just the seal (careful not to scratch the shaft) and replace. it would take another half hour or so to pull the pump. Check the screws on the back, clean and dry both surfaces and reinstall. Now would be a good time to replace the t belt etc if its due to be done soon. Get the o ring for the pump from the dealer. Cost me less than $3 two weeks ago. You need a good sealant. I prefer anaerobic, for it doesn't set up in air. The FSM is available. In New Gen FAQ sticky. 2nd page under my name. To give yourself room to work, all you need to remove are the fans, not the radiator. O.
  6. replace the o ring and front crank seal, use sealant on the pump. Don't overdo it on the sealant. Torque spec on the bolts is only 4.7 ft lbs. O.
  7. Yes you can. Once the oil filter is off unscrew the cooler attachment. (24mm IIRC). You need to keep the metal line that connects the two( inspect well), the two hoses and the Tstat cover with the extra port. Get a new O ring from the dealer and you'll be GTG. O.
  8. Most Subarus are classified as sports cars. . NY which has high rates to begin with socks it to you. Tickets etc add to the cost. This is one reason I never bought a turbo GT. O.
  9. You have to get the codes read, then get back. Most auto stores will read the codes for free. O.
  10. Watch the fitting on the pump. Some have a different size. If necessary all you'd have to do is swap the line from the junction up to the pump. O.
  11. Not that hard, just not as easy as disc. Buy hardware kit. You may not need it, but it's better to have in case you do when all is apart and you can't go get it. The springs and the metal discs are what may be needed, Back off the adjusting screw so the pads are not pushed up against the drum. Have 2 m8x1.25 bolts about 2 in. long available. If the drum doesn't come right off, use the bolts in the threaded holes to push them off. If the drum is still hanging up as it comes off, back off the adjusting screw more. Get FSM from New Gen FAQ sticky. 2nd page under my name. Needle nose grip pliers are great for pulling the springs into place, unless you want to buy the tool to do it. O.
  12. No fuss 00-04, possibly 05. 06 up was drive by wire so harnesses are different in addition to AVLS ( variable valve lift) FSM is available in Bew Gen FAQ sticky above. 2nd page under my name. O.
  13. Nothing will work long term until you pull the pin, clean it and it's mating hole thoroughly, then grease it. Some things cannot be sprayed and expected to work well. O.
  14. First pull the inlet line from the filter under the hood and crank. If no fuel, check the fuses in the accessory panel and then the relays under the hood. SBF 2 and 4 must both be good for fuel. It may not be the pump. O.
  15. This link is a large complete pdf of manual. It is not broken down into sections. P205-08 are diagrams etc of valve assemblies with torque settings. P 248 has the settings and sequence. http://people.csail.mit.edu/ilh/vacation/ O.
