  1. No, the wire was in use. It was wired to the door chime. If you hate the door chime, you can just cut the wire and hook it up to the radio, or you can just splice it into the wire without "breaking" the door chime. I can't see there being enough amp draw to cause a problem with the second way I mentioned, as that's the way I have mine wired. If all else fails and you dont feel comfortable with either of the ways mentioned, you can always run a piece of wire from the battery to the radio with little effort. I would advise an inline fuse whichever way you go, though. Better safe than sorry.
  2. Having just recently installed a radio into my 85' Brat, I can offer you what I did. I used the wire off the door chime for full-time hot, which is a yellow wire. Its a green connector under the driver side dash with a solid yellow, and solid black wire. I did not find a full time hot in the radio harness its self, and I believe this has something to do with the fact that the pre-sets are not stored by memory of the radio, but rather mechanically. This of course, pertains to an EA81 bodied Subaru. It may be the same in an EA82, but ive never worked on one before. Hope this helps.

  4. I would check the vacuum advance. I had this same problem with my 85 Brat
  5. Pictures are labled 2010... The third brat looks kind of decent, actually.
  6. Yeah... That's hoarding alright, lol. You've acquired some really nice stuff, man.
  7. Wow, $540? I think I would just enjoy a drive Oregon for that much, lol. So basically, I need to poke around. The canopy would be shipped to me, not from me. So I would also need to find someone that is willing to put up with the hassle of shipping the darn thing. Thanks for the answers guys!
  8. Is this Brat equipped with cruise control? I haven't seen that black sphere thing on the passenger side on the firewall before.
  9. Just a question I should entertain for the future. So, anyone ever done this? Brat topper of course. The gem top one that sits flat to the roof.
  10. I know there is a vacuum actuator behind the kick panel on the passenger side. FSM show it to be connected via intake. I would check that out, and make sure the hose is on/intact.
  11. Here is my 82' oil gauge. Same color and numbering.

    Someone's been busy. Congratulations.
  13. That's a nice hitch, I really like it. Great looking brat, too, of course.
  14. Awesome article. Congratulations Jeszek! Everyone here is very appreciative of your dedicated write-ups, and apparently those not on the USMB are, too. One again, congratulations.

  16. Not by memory. I think Miles has a really good one somewhere.
  17. Probably one of the most FAQ's of the Old Gen sub-forum, and it seems to irritate some folks seeing the question over and over... I dont know, just a suggestion.
  18. Looks like a manual heat control valve (something like that) to me. I was looking at it the other day in the FSM, except it was vacuum controlled.
  19. Unless its an automatic, the book is correct. Every manual transmission ive come across has taken gear oil: because it's just essentially a "gear box".

Dude, its like... Spring already down here, lol.
  21. Was this the brat on ebay?
  22. What brand? I may be able to help you! There are a few hobby shops around me that keep discontinued stuff lying around until someone pokes at them for it :-p
