The jeep had a LITTLE trouble up one spot but other than that it had no issues out there. Everyone kept telilng me to floor it more but I didnt need to Big tires RULE !_! mschafe this spot is pretty relaxed; I'd say it had 2 'obsticales' and the rest were just easy trails. I used to take my wagon back there when it was 2WD and had extra worn out struts (no clearance!) I doubt you would get stuck and even if you did we'd have you out in 5 minutes. So when are you doing a 4WD conversion on yours? I know a junkyard in the metro area with dual ranges just sitting there right now!

my hatch is now er27ified!(new pic)almost done.

I can't wait to be in it when you floor it !_! -
The problem is I need to know what these (chevy, toyota, and fullsize jeep) rims come from. Just 'a chevy 15" rim' or 'a toyota 15" rim' do me little good out there in the junkyard. What year/make/models should I be looking at? Thanks!

What Toyota rims have the LEAST amount of backspacing? That's what I want
-
Right now I'm running only the back covers with no front covers. This is pretty much be cuase I'm too lazy to remove the cam gears to pull off the back covers. I run them nakid like this on my ORV. I would not be fully truthfull if I did not mention I have had a negative incident running with out covers. A lot of mud, sand and such worked its way beyond the seals on the idler gear there below the drivers side tensioner pulley. Also my tensioner pullies started getting full of junk (could tell by the squeeking!). The ideler gear siezed on me it got so dirty and then I destroyed a timing belt as a result (6 hours from home!) Well I still run them with out covers, offroading and all, but now I keep a can of PB Blaster in the rig at all times. Everytime I fire her up I hit those tensioner pullies and the ideler gear with a dose. Havent heard them squeek since and I havent had any more sieze up on me. The belts themsevles hold up just fine. They never look dirty, cracked, or dry rotten on my EA82. There's no fancy covers over my alternator and that gets plenty of muck up into it. She squeeks sometimes too and again I just hit it with the PB blaster (or any other spray lubricating oil I have on hand). There's all kinds of pullies and bearings up there that dont have covers. I'm not worried about any of them.... it's an offroad vehicle; stuff breaks

Argh I'm still sore from wresteling that over weight goat in there. Sure was funny seeing how low it made my GL wagon sit with that full ER27 engine assembly in the back of my wagon... no pics of that Acutally getting it in there and even bolted to the tranny wasnt that bad.... now getting the motor mounts to line up at the crossmember is rough. Got some pics now of it in the hatch though.... IT FITS Shots before ER27: Shots of ER27! -
I never really measure offset; just backspacing. The 15" pugs I run have about 5" of backspacing limiting my tire width to 9.5" before I rub on the struts lower spring seat. With a Toyota rim that has 3.5" of backspacing you have more room for wider tires. The width of the rim doesnt mater so much as the backspacing. The height of the tire isnt as important as the width here either. I would run those Toyota rims with 3.5" of backspacing you found if you can get a full set. They are super easy to drill out. I just used an old brake drum/hub left over from doing a rear disc swap. Hammerd out 2 oppoiste, opposing studs, bolted the hub to the toyota rim, and used the hub as a jig to drill the holes. Took all of about 10 minutes to do one rim. Here is a pic of a finished one. We bolted it onto Archemitis hatchback here. Also note thats a 235/75/R15 (28.9"x8.5") tire on an un-lifted EA81 sitting on its own weight.

Look at your oil pan!!!! Is it dented? That sump for your oil pickup to the oil pump is VERY close to the bottom of your oil pan. WOuld supprise me if you dented the pan upto the sump and are getting some oil starvation. Also look at the wire from the sending unit up to your guage. Those tend to go bad also.... mgith have cought it on something and damaged the wire? Damaged the sending unit? Those sending units and wires are real suseptibale to damage and funny oil pressure readings.

Dang thats one long wagon! Is it lifted or just big tires? I'd offroad it!

Today was a BLAST! I"m so gald you all came out. We had three black wagons, one silver xt6, a green Impreza, and a green Jeep Safari out at the meeting. A total of 11 people I belive; 12? after Tony's dad came! Most stuck around and went offroading at a local splash spot. Only about 2 obsticals worth mentioning. HOpefully Numbchux can get his friend to uplaod or send the photos and movie clips. That little Impreza and XT6 went everywhere and hit most every thing! Everyone told me to floor it more... I was just putting around like nothing :-p Sure was fun out there in the fresh snow and mud. Can't wait to have another MN Meet and Greet! Thanks !_!

Going solid axles all around on this one? Cool little bugger.

Sounds awsome man. EFI is the best; glad you are happy with it! So this was an SPFI engine swap? Or conversion of an engine into SPFI? Details and pics!

Napa Oil pumps...would you trust em?
MorganM replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'd use it with out question. Then again I'm running mostly junkyard upgrades -
Totally awsome !_! After you get some big tires on go park next to that there doge and compare ground clearance to lowest points
-
If you suspect the fuel pump try listening to it. It's up behind the rear main crossmember on the passangers side. See if the pump dies... then the engine dies. Since it doesnt die untill its warmed up maybe its the water temp sensor? Computer needs that to idle properly when warmed up. Also might be a severe vacume leak. They can cause poor idle or stalling.

I guess lets shoot for around noon. Not fast enough? Man that must be slow cuz mine is really damn slow If it will maintain 55mph I'd drive it !_!

Strange engine 'knock' problem

Hey just noticed you are in the same area as me I live in Burnsville. Some of us are getting together this SAT for a Subaru pow-wow. We could fix your PCV system right there. I prolly got all the parts laying around my garage to do it. Basicly just need a new plastic T fitting and some more 5/8" vacume hose. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25501
