  1. I found this brochure years ago and forgot about it. I just came across it and thought the board may enjoy it. So far I have never seen any Fire Outbacks in service in Utah but it might make some sence. Other than the lack of mega storeage space. I think it would make a good public servie utility vehicle. As far as a Outback Police car? I could see it in a Ski Town type enviornment. All we have here is right hand drive Parking Enforcement Subarus. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=12260&limit=recent http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=12259&limit=recent
  2. Pound, Pound, Pound! They don't like to come out that very first time! Once it's been out you'll be fine. I too have a special nail that I use for pin removal--now they are un-stuck.
  3. So....what color is your car? I once had an old Toyota that was 11 different colors:cool:
  4. Other members have used dental floss:D to "saw" them off. Clean up any residual sticky stuff with wax or denatured alcohol.
  5. You'll never find anyone who can make them for a reasonable price... I've tried forever. I had custom rims made for less than adapters.
  6. Some of the external components will differ in shape and placement. The Air Suction Valve has moved and changed shape since 1982. This may cause you to have to re-route some of it's hoses from the left to the right. Whatever carb you use, you'll need to get that computer and associated parts out of the donor car. The 1982 Carter Weber carb will have a fuel pump control unit that you'll need to keep with the carb.
  7. Has anyone actually called Marsh Custom Wheels and asked what a custom 4X140 wheel would cost? It looks as though these guys would be capable of building such a creature? Ordering a few sets makes quite a few rims for a custom production run.
  8. Have you checked to make sure you have any oil?
  9. Having cut a car in half vertically and horizontally, I can tell you... It shouldn't take much time. I cut the front off my car to remove the engine & tranny. A grinder will do it much faster than a Sawzall. There will probably be some points that a Grinder won't get to though. There can't be much cost in making a trailer out of that car? so...why not give it a shot?
  10. Try applying more heat to the outside of the bend, rather than the inside? Stretch the plastic rather than shrink it? I'm making this up as I type.... But it seems logical!
  11. Justys started in 1987... so which is it? an 87 Justy or an 84 Hatch? My bet is you have a Hatch. This would be a easier starting point, if that's the case?
  12. You may be able to find a whole new "black" bumper at a Junkyard for not much money and quit trying to restore the grey one? Short of that, it would be Armor all for me. Painting would be my last resort.
  13. I don't know much about your year but... I assume you have a rear fuel filter near the pump and one up front on the firewall? When it kills is the front fuel filter empty? Are your fuel filters dirty--in need of replacement? Will it stay running (longer than 6 seconds) with Starting Fluid? It sounds gas related to me...
  14. I'd be a little careful about driving it.... When Mad Max's alternator went away, it was putting out 18+ volts:eek: Get it tested! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  15. I was kinda waitin for someone to get hurt... They all should have been hurt doin something stupid like that!
  16. What were they smoking? Never mind, silly question! I bet they had the munchies while they were making that:lol:
  17. That's just plain Sweet! They don't make-um like that anymore. I wouldn't paint it or re-upholster it. I'd buff the original paint and use seat covers. I'd keep it as original as possible, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  18. I recognize that dealership... Is that Nate Wade Subaru in SLC? They always have cool cars there. A couple years ago they had a Gen 2 sedan on display. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  19. I'm not a big Gen 1 fan but that's a sweet ride! It truely looks like we're back in 1978 (again :-\) Fantastic job on the restoration!
  20. That might be the "Mavrick Monster" I have been hearing about on the radio? Great shot!
  21. 630 watts proudly shining forward! 175 watts proudly shining backwards! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=31&cat=500&ppuser=584 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11586&cat=500&ppuser=584 I don't run all of these at one time out of respect for my poor alternator.
  22. What were you expecting? It's a primer paint job! That's just the look I wanted when I found this baby already painted!!! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7454&cat=500&ppuser=584 Boy was I lucky! I probably saved $8 in spray paint:grin: I prefer the black radar absorbing primer Leave it alone and drive it proudly!!!
  23. Where can I find the proper valve clearance adjustment setting for an EA81 solid lifter engine? I've searched, checked USRM, and I'm not finding any specifics on what my valves should be set to? Anyone have a manual? Thanks, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--needs valves checked 84 GL Mad Max--probably next on the list... 01 Forester--60k tune up should cover it.
