lift/mods/tires for my Soob. I missed the FAQ. . .
Welcome to the board. I think your in the right place. There are tons of modified Brats around here. I'd call it a "SmorgasBrat". Pick and choose what you like? Are you thinking on using a Subaru suspension or mixing it up a bit with other parts? The reason I ask is you'll soon be dealing with the gearing/tire size equation. Everyone seems to come up with their own balance. Using non-subaru gearing... will allow you a wider range of tire options. But it does cost more...$ I'd assess your intended use and see what makes sence for gearing and tires. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Geninune Rear Bumpers
What model of Gen 2 are you looking for? The bumpers changed a bit from year to year. My Hatch had chrome with rubber bumps Later Hatches had the black plastic bumpers... http://www.usmb.net/gallery/album15 Here are some pics... Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--no bumpers anymore... 01 Forester--factory bumper w/factory push bar...

no way out...(very long!)
It was a long hard battle but...Your back on the road! That's all that matters. I've been dinged on a few inspections too. I've been through the tie rod thing. So I just took it to a different station and got a second opinion, I passed! Another station said my caliper was shot and showed signs of leaking. The car didn't use fluid? I cleaned the caliper with a wire brush and told them it was replaced! Of course both places wanted to fix it for a ton of money Even in Utah we can buy Beer at the 7/11's Of course anything else must come from the liquor store. Easy Out Procedure
Be carefull!!! You already have a bad situation, don't take any chances to make it worse. Yes you need to drill a pilot hole. This is critical. You must get it right the first time. If you don't you'll mess up your existing threads. I'd center punch your bolt and drill it carefully! Start small and work your way up with the bits. If you stay centered you can drill most all the bolt out except for the threads. I have found that with the center of the bolt gone, it's easy to remove. If it still won't come out then try the easy-out. Don't force the easy-out, if you break it you have a big problem. They are made of the same stuff as drill bits. Good Luck, (Ya I realize that the bolt are rarely in a convient spot)

justy questions
Nick, Not sure who makes a lift kit for a Justy but... Put a 2" piece of square tubing between every place that the suspension and drive train touch the chassis and you'll be lifted before you know it. Someone up in the northwest put ATV tires on a Justy? Dunno who it was or if they are a board member here or not but it can be done. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

BYB skid plate?
Once you have the lift done, and know where everything is going to be, then you can custom fab something. I'm using a custom bent sheet of 1/8 steel mounted to the frame in front and to the old skid plate mounts in back. I don't think it will support the entire weight of the car on top of a rock but it will let me know that I need to backoff! I look at my skid plate as more of a "curb pealer". If I hear it, I'm getting in to a problem area and need to re-assess my approach. Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--1/8 steel skid plate  01 Forester--plastic skid plate

BYB skid plate?
I don't know but... That would make sence because the skid plate is attached to the crossmember and the body too. So...if you lift the body in relation to the crossmember... You would need the put a spacer between the body and the front of the skid plate to make it match like it did before the lift. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

More CAlifornia Smog Drama
Absolutely correct!!! I have had people from the state commission tell me that. They don't want the older cars on the road. I can't afford to keep them happy, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
