  1. Ive never driven with Eric (except for a test drive in his Impreza once) but I've wheeled with him a couple times and he'll show you the time of your life. -Brian
  2. Im interested in seeing this ad I had a Penthouse collection that included every mag from years 1986-1992 but none of them had Subaru Ad's. My Nat. Geographic Magazine has ad's from years 1984 and some others in 1990-1992. -Brian
  3. Not really the axles themselfs that are the weak point, its the cups at either end, and the inners that go 1st. Then the Diff stub's... the axle shaft itself seems to hold up to almost anything. -Brian
  4. What about the EA81 in place of the EA71? -Brian
  5. Your '79 will need the crossmember from a '81 with a EA81 from the factory. The EA81 and the tranny will bolt together, and bolt in... but you may need to modify your crossmember, unless you can locate a '81 Brat Crossmember. And it has to be a '81 Brat, I dont think '80 Brats came with EA81's. From what I understand, the crossmember is the only thing you need to worry about. -Brian
  6. Thought you bought a turbo wagon, maybe it was someone else. Your allowed to comment. But it seems each and every post i see from you, is questioning the integrity of our subaru's, our work, our designs. I understand your offering advice and constructive critisism, and its welcome here... but dont expect each and everyone one of us to take it lightly. -Brian P.S. Emoticons do a great job of portraying your mood... like sarcasm, anger or happiness
  7. It'll be difficult to figure the exact model year of the engine without the car. Alot of EA81s are identical, but have different features depending on the location they were sold. CA, High Altitude, low altitude. Plus 1980-1983 are mostly solid lifters, whereas 1984-1986 are Hydro Lifters. 1980-1983 EA81's with AT's also had Hydro lifters, so thats another thing to keep in mind. If you got the engine as a spare, it should bolt into any EA81 subaru from 1980-1986 however, without any difficulties or major trouble. -Brian
  8. Lets see pictures of your subaru... and I dont mean your toyota, or your jeep... your subaru. Plus, yes... he is showing off. I would too if I had a car like that. Saw the car in person at WCSS6 and its a one of a kind. -Brian
  9. Hey russ... are those the 14" pugs that were on the RX? If so, i could use them. K9 Wagon, if 15" alloys are what your after, I might be able to locate a set for you. Im alittle north of you in Sacramento so if You wanna drive alittle to get them. -Brian
  10. Here's some pix of the 1st Gen EA81 lift layed out. I took these pix when I got my 3/3 lift about 18months ago: In this pic, you can see some of the blocks and how they are reinforced: I dont think either lift is prone to breaking or cracking or failure. Not sure how easily Aluminum cracks or breaks, but these steel kits are built for life. -Brian
  11. I live in sacramento, and I am probably the largest subaru freak in nor-cal. You can contact me via Email or PM me here if you need any help organizing or gathering people. Some locals & I have been toying around with the idea of a Californian meet... but we're affraid of getting 30,000 kids and their tricked out WRX's (was at the iClub Mt. Hamilton meet... was the most discusting subaru show Ive been to). -Brian
  12. Thats definatly an idea. The body on it looks good enough for a new motor. -Brian
  13. WOW! That car looks great Definatly a keeper. -Brian
  14. Awesome!! Looks like he got those corners taken care of. Im definatly jealous!! Even though I have the original style 3/3 that im very happy with. But the aluminum blocks just look so much better -Brian
  15. Alot of people have their own idea of Ultimate Off-Road subaru. Most would like a Hatch with a 4" lift and it would make it almost anywhere. EA81's are prefferable over EA82's most the time. Then you get the extreme ones who want dual t-cases, 8"+ of lift, lockers etc... I myself think of the Ultimate Off-Road Subaru in the same light as a Swiss Army Knife. I want more utility and useablility. I preffer to sleep in my vehicle, just enough room to toss and turn, with enough storage for the bare minimum onboard. Enough traction and low range to crawl through deserts, forests, fields... with a road, trail or footpath. All while keeping 20mpg +/- 5mpg My next off-road rig will be sure to have alittle more power and maybe a rear locker -Brian
  16. Yuck, whats with that dude and color matched bumper/grills? Makes all his brats look kinda ugly. But the rims look great -Brian
  17. Dont worry about it and just buy it. If the body is straight its worth more than $50. I should be getting my RX in a week or so... we'll need to go play in the fresh snow -Brian
  18. Heya russ... when i get your brothers RX i might need you to make me a pipe. -Brian
  19. I paid $1350 for the car, and another $1100 to have a clutch put in. The car is being parted out in the next couple weeks and I'll be replacing it with a 1987 RX Coupe. The Turbo Leg has done very well. If it werent for the front end being completly mangled (steering, fender, tires, brakes) i would keep it. I just feel unsafe cruising at 90 when the car likes to drift on its own. So yeah, when will we see you in the states again? I gotta get ahold of shannon, havent talked to him in a while. -Brian
  20. I saw ebay is a good start. You will be hard pressed to get more than $3k for it though. I would guestimate $2000-$2500 as its value. -Brian
  21. Ive done the rear disk conversion on 3 subarus. 1 of them is my Lifted Wagon which I go mudding with all the time. I find that the rear disk's get in no more trouble than the front disk's. I dont think it is much to worry about, the additional stopping power is worth it. Its also one of the easiest mod's you can do. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=5 -Brian
  22. Why not do everybody else on the road a favor, and just leave them on? There is a reason they are on the car. -Brian
  23. The price includes shipping to the continental US i believe. Also, be patient. Each kit is hand built and may take some time. I waited 3 months for mine, and am glad I did so. -Brian
