  1. If the car it came out of had a AT in it, it most likely sucked in some ATF into the intake. It just needs to burn off, run it for a while.
  2. Does this help?
  3. I plan on using the fuel pump switch. Even if they get in the car and manage to jimmy the ign, they wont get far. Pick a location thats easy for you to get to. As for the stereo, will it fit in the glove box? Does it have a remote? If so, you can just about put it anywhere.
  4. Ah, ok......I see it now:-p My eyes are always looking at the XT6 and I forgot about the wagon behind it:rolleyes: It was built by mtfabsman (Mike, the guy I bought my Hatch from) and he sold it to someone else. The car was from Eugene, Oregon and dont know if its still like this or not. He made it so the subframe could be removed and everything put back to stock running gear. Heres a link to his for sale thread and link to his pics. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=359988#post359988
  5. I actually did this to my first Subaru. It was a 82 GLF Coupe and I took a washer setup, drilled a hole in my trunk lid and put the washer tip on it backwards. It worked very well and usually got a surprised look from TG'rs and then a grin/laugh. They usually backed off too.
  6. I heard that besides having "OnStar" and the black box recording everything that happens with the car, now it will be able to record everything said in the car thru the radio. HAHA, I love starting rumours:-p Unfortunatly, this may be true some day:-\
  7. That can happen on any car. Your brake pads get wet and it takes a few yards for the moisture to evaporate. When you get that wet, just ride your brakes for a little bit. The proportioning valve is in front of the rear axle on the drivers side.
  8. You need a different manual. The model you have isnt covered in the one you have. Find a 93 or earlier. You have a Loyale, which is a EA82 engine. It has 2 belts and can be confusing for the first timer(sometimes oldtimers too). Heres a link to the procedure for doing the timing belts. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50768
  9. The green one is actually a Hatch, like mine. But it is probably a EA71, unless its been upgraded. It might take more than a weekend to do a lift like mine or the XT6 pictured. Unless you have mad fab skills:-p Mine was worked on by 2 different previous owners, one of them the owner of that lifted XT6. Its pretty well built, as I havent tweaked it yet. And I dont baby it when I go wheeling;)
  10. Dont remember alot of info on this, but its owned locally by a NWIC member. Not bad for a cell phone pic:-p Ok, did a little searching. Its a 89 GT-R32 Belongs to BREWPUBEAVER (Dave). I took the pic at the Tacoma Krispy Kreams parking lot during a Thurs night meet.
  11. Eh, my repair today was to remove a broken lower shock mount bolt. I guess it really didnt need to be removed....it fell out sometime last Sat when I went to the car show:-p So all I needed to do was find a new bolt and take out a roll bushing from another shock and it was ready to rock again:headbang:
  12. Not any more. I got a quote from a local installer I have used before. $350-$375 for one that doesnt have the bronze tint.
  13. Thats a possibility. Are the HG's originals?
  14. Thanks:-p That reminds me....I got to go work on it so I can go play Monday:headbang:
  15. The control unit in the disty most likely died. Either find a new(er) disty, or a control unit.
  16. I would probably get the transfer clutches replaced. At that mileage, I'm sure it would have its AWD capabilities lessened. If they kept reasonably good rubber under it, it may not be a issue. But if they ran tires that had lots of wear, it will put stress/wear on the clutch discs. **Disclaimer** My experiances are with the older 4EAT's and may not be applicable to newer models.
  17. I would wait a while before selling the Lego. Granted, I've only owned my SVX for about a month and have only put 20mi on it. But from all the reading I've done of others experiances with thiers, you may want a backup car for a little bit. At least until the bugs are worked out. Any more info on the car? Mileage, condition, etc?
  18. Need to understand some physics and enertia here. This isnt the same as a airbag inside a car. If there was a big airbag on the back of the car and it was hit by another car at substantial speed, what happens? The airbag doesnt just go poof! and you remain where you were parked/stopped. The enertia/energy has to go somewhere. You ever have a beach ball against your chest and someone punches it? You get propeled backwards. The energy gets transfered thru the ball and into you. Dont think this one would work. I think we need a accordian suspension. We see it in cartoons all the time:-p
  19. Say hi to Yogi for me:-p And bring some fresh cuthroats back too;) But most of all.....dont feed the animals!
  20. 10min may be to short, I suggest a couple of hours. But I think a 1/2hr is adequate.
  21. Nah, I think a cliff would be better:rolleyes: Make sure you have a good tight grip on the steering wheel tho:-p
  22. Thats what I like to hear! Well, the accolades are nice, but mostly that the parts are what did the trick;) How about some pics to show us the engine, etc?
  23. Yup, got it out yesterday. Have to wait for the new engine to get here, not sure how long it will be, but I get a break and can work on some of my stuff now. My SVX is getting a new speed sensor on Fri and thats a PITA to do (under car).
  24. Even if you do come up with a better braking system for a lifted EA81, you still have the problem of enertia. Especially going downhill on a dirt road. Your tires may be stopped, but the rig is going to keep trucking. If you had a straight axle setup in the rear, you would have some chioces of bigger rotors.
