  1. As with all used cars, check it over really good or bring a mechanic friend that knows Subaru's, that would be the best idea. The biggest thing about any engine is maintenance. See if theres any records or proof that regular oil changes have been done. Find out when the timing belt was last changed along with the waterpump, etc. If regular maintenance was done there should be many miles left in it.
  2. The trick I found for the EA82T headgaskets was to buy OEM or Felpro and coat them with copper spray sealant. Never had a problem with them after that, but I did with keeping the ring lands on pistons
  3. Turbone

    lifted shocks

    Is that what you're running?

  5. Not sure if he has time at the moment, he joined the USCG a few months back. But he does check in here, so you'll get a response from him I'm sure.
  6. Try the Pick N Pull in Arlington, theres a couple of EA82's in the yard right now. I dont think I've ever bought a new cone washer, just inspect the one you take off in the yard - it should be good.
  7. Wire up the speakers separate, but remember they have a common ground for front and rear. You wont get 4ch separation unless you run new wire to the speakers. If you have a voltage meter, find a switched hot and a constant hot, they should be in the stock harness. If not, run one from the fuse box (switched) and the battery (constant). If you run a constant from the battery put a in-line fuse in it.
  8. I think the connection from the Subaru harness to the metra is messed up. Heres a radio harness diagram from a 86, it shouldnt be to much different. The green is constant power and yellow is switched.
  9. If I was going to spend that kind of money I would just buy a Walbro. Just about any in-line fuel pump will work, look for cheaper brands or a junk yard.
  10. ShawnW from Retroroo might be able to help. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=116331
  11. They need to be turned clockwise into the caliper. You can buy a tool at the parts store or get a kit from a better supplier. I use the kit ans it a breeze. It also sounds like the caliper is sticking. When you have the caliper seperated put some grease on the pi.
  12. Ah ok, I just looked on the map and they are miles apart.
  13. Maybe this way custom axles wont have to be made, hmmm? Russ, why not come over and take pics etc?
  14. The Justy is closest to what they drive in Japan. Its small, cheap on gas and the cargo space is decent for its size. It was the smallest car (at the time) that FHI could import into the US and be licensed for the road. If your looking for a Justy forum, here you go. http://subarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi
  15. Isnt 8 Mile and Icicle Creek where the fires were last year?
  16. I have a door from a Hatch. And I like this idea, I cant count how many corner lights I've broken on my Hatch.
  17. Really? Well, what fun is that? :-p I'm getting to the age now where this is more my style But I cant drive that far with a broken axle either. Snap, I just remembered theres the Bell-Kirk BBQ on the 16th. I have to get the fiancée's car aligned by Russ.
  18. Front diff failure IS common in this year/make - ask me how I know. $50 for a replacement is good, but its a pita to change. The A/T more so than a 5spd (what do you have?). If you can find another trans, it would be much easier to swap the whole unit. But a turbo trans is getting hard to find.
  19. My Hatch isnt quite ready. Need to replace a axle and do a bunch of maintenance :-\
  20. No, its not owned by a board member. It is close to me, but I have yet to see it. Theres pics of it in Tex's original for sale thread here.
