  1. I am starting my EJ swap on my Brat and I had a couple questions that I cannot find the answer too. For reference my Brat is an 82 with GL dash swap and 5 spd DR, and my donor car is a 1996 Legacy L automatic. On thinning the harness, there are some sensors and stuff I am concerned about cutting off and worried they will throw a CEL. Specifically the fuel temperature sensor, vent control solenoid valve, pressure control solenoid valve, fuel tank pressure sensor, so basically the stuff around the gas tank for the evap system. Also, since my donor is an automatic it comes with the EGR valve. Once I make it manual, can I delete this without a code being thrown? If so I could thin it out in the harness before hand. Also, there are 2 sensors in the engine bay (passenger side on a bracket by the washer reservoir) I am uncertain of. One is the pressure source switching solenoid valve and it splices into the vacuum line used by the fuel pressure regulator and the other is the manifold pressure sensor. I think these are used by the automatic trans and not needed once the ECU is put into manual mode. Can anyone confirm? Thanks for the help, Ill check back here often with updates for those that don't follow me on Facebook. -Jason Osborne
  2. Just push the boot up higher towards the cup on the shaft and zip tie it shut. I have a pretty extreme CV angle on mine and this has worked fine.
  3. The relay gave up. Mine did this. Relay is located under the dash up pretty high. Mine were round and both the hazard and regular are beside each other. Also make sure all the signal lights are good. If a light burns out it won't blink either.
  4. Awesome Brat, and a great canvass to start with. I looked for almost 10 years before I found mine. I am almost scared to relocate it to the East Coast in the next few years. I guess Ill just preserve it every winter and stay away from the beaches. It has no rust anywhere, even the unpainted bed sides under the access panels are rust free. I take her off road, but mostly just down forest service access roads, nothing crazy. That will also come to an end once I move.
  5. The Yokohamma Geolander HT/S is a decent all a round tire. It was the OE tire on my Crosstrek. Good road manners, and not too bad soft roading over gravel/ sand.
  6. Here are some pics of a camping/ over landing trip I did with Mtn_Roo. This was at the Menoche Jeep trail in the Sierra Nevada Mtns. The elevation was really high (8500') and although thmy weber is jetted for sea level (performance jetting) I was able to make some air/ fuel adjustments that allowed it to run this high. It was very anemic at times, especially going up hill so I think this Ol' girl is going to receive a EJ22 in her future.
  7. I also installed a MSD 6AL ignition system. This really livened up the engine. Quicker revs, more dependable, and way better throttle response. Well worth it and pretty easy to do.
  8. SO I got tired of the regular headlights and poor output and decided to build some real HID projector lights. I bought a kit off of Amazon, and some housings. Than using my dremel, drill and some Fuji bond made my own housings for them. Turned out pretty great! I love the light output. I also installed LED's into every socket that would normally contain a light bulb. The end result is that now even with my head lights on I am pulling less than 2 amps from the alternator, I have WAY better visibility at night, and my MPG's increase 2 mpg due to there being less load on the electrical system.
  9. Also, what fender flares are those?
  10. Nice, I like that front bumper! Did you make it?
  11. Mine did this and it ended up being the cone washer and crush washer that goes under the axle nut. I chased this issue for almost a year before changing these out. Cheap and easy to do.
  12. Hey RAM where at in Socal are you? I'm in Oceanside and can help. Before my lift and tires I could easily maintain the speed limit over the mountain going east and west on I8. And even with the tires and lift I can still drop into 4th and maintain speed. That's about the biggest and longest hill we have here on a highway. you can PM me for my number, Id love to help you out. Keep in mind, there is no cheap way to do this. As far as the revs go, EA81 is made to rev high for long periods of time. Its an aircraft motor, hence the factory dual valve springs. Ive taken mine up to 7500 RPM's but really anything after 5K is pointless. 3-4000 RPMs is where is really likes to run. Anyways, I have attached a pic of my work if you're interested.
  13. Nice job, its coming along nicely!!
  14. Great job on this, I am envious of your body skills. Please keep us updated on how things continue to develop!
  15. Not sure if I ever added mine in here. 82 Brat 85% restored with ADF lift. 15" Method race wheels and 215/75/15 BFG AT TA KO2's.
  16. Cool site, I just registered for it. I am surprised there was still a Subaru site out there I wasn't already apart of lol. Bumper looks great!!
  17. I am going through the same thing. I have a 2015 Crosstrek that I have driven once the past 3 weeks, and that was to pick it up from the dealership. Its been in and out of the dealership so much for a suspension issue, I just lost interest in it and have been daily driving the brat 100 miles a day to work and back. Sometimes I wonder why I even still have it. My wife drives her Outback Sport so the CXV just sits there.
  18. Is the ignition pick up module in the distributor still good? Its what tells the fuel pump to come on and provides the signal to the coil to fire. If it went bad and internally shorted it will blow the fuse. It seems like the common denominator between the two issues.
  19. How long did it take you to sort out the 2 harnesses?
  20. Following. This will be my next step if my EA81 ever dies. Although I just ordered a MSD 6AL ignition system for it, so I would think that will help.
  21. rear brat taillight lens, corner lens, and driving light lenses. rear EA81 CV axles EA81 interior parts badges and trim Brat tail gates rear Brat glass and door glass These are all things I can think of that are hard to come by, that I would be interested in getting assuming the parts are in good shape.
  22. From what I gather the hubs are the same, its the length that is the issue. The inner and outer DOJ's are the same though, so I guess I could just carry extra inner and outer races from an EA82 and hope I actually never break the shaft.
  23. yeah but you had to ship them the Core didn't you? I would like 1-2 for spares in case I blow one off roading.
