Erratic HVAC/radio controls 05 Outback
Legacy777 replied to brus brother's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI've heard that this is somewhat a common issues on these cars. My ex's 06 Outback would occasionally have issues as well. I would suggest searching over on the Legacy GT forums for a fix if you haven't already done so. http://legacygt.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/interior-audio-22.html

FSM's
Legacy777 replied to ocei77's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDidn't you already post this info in the New gen sticky FAQ? I don't personally care for a bunch of stickies as it clutters the forum's first page. You can just direct people to that thread or the specific post. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/49121-new-gen-subaru-faq-sticky-compilation/page-2?p=1201090

New to subaru. Looking at 2008 impreza
Legacy777 replied to osubmw's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWelcome to the USMB. Are you sure it's a 4 speed manual? All the non-turbo manual transmissions are 5spd. I don't personally know of any major issues with the 2008 Impreza. Timing belt and water pump will probably need to be done around 100k miles, but until then routine oil changes and maintenance should all you need to do to it.

90-94 Legacy Mass Air Flow Sensor HELP!?
Legacy777 replied to ojm712's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWelcome to the USMB. Yes the four pin MAF sensors will work fine. How does the engine/car run besides the poor idling? Is the poor idling your only problem?

2000 outback
Legacy777 replied to puddle cruiser's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe headgaskets are probably one of the big things to ask about and if the timing belt was done recently. I'm not sure if those engines are due at 60k or 100k. That's the other thing to keep in mind...if she keeps it, the timing belt and water pump probably should be done around 100k. So that's maybe a bargaining tool if she really wants to get it.

1995 Subaru Impreza LX Coupe
Welcome to the USMB. What are you trying to accomplish, better handling, more power, better braking...? My preference is to upgrade the handling related components first before doing power mods, but depending on what you're trying to achieve may drive what you upgrade first.

97 Subaru Impreza "FWD-1.6"
Legacy777 replied to subaru_egypt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWelcome to the USMB. Is your Impreza a manual transmission? Does the shaking occur at all rpms when in 1st gear and you let off the accelerator or only after the engine revs get above a certain point? Do you know if your 1.6 liter engine is fuel injected or carbureted? We did not get the 1.6 liter engine in North America so I'm not sure what info we have is going to be similar. However, here is the Subaru factory service manual for the US 97 Impreza. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/1997_Impreza_FSM.zip If you're having engine temp issues, I would probably recommend checking the engine's thermostat. Subaru engines tend to be picky about the thermostats used and you should try and get a new one from Subaru. Most of the aftermarket thermostats from parts stores don't work properly. The ticking is probably from the hydraulic valve lash adjusters. Have you checked your oil level recently? Also, when has the oil last been changed? Usually you will noticing the lifters ticking more when the oil is dirty or low. Take a look at the factory manual as it has maintenance schedules in there and things that should be done. If you have questions, post back.

Fuel filter change frequency 2005 WRX STi
Legacy777 replied to createaneutron's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo you have the owner's manual? If so it should state the change interval in there. If you don't see a filter in the engine bay then there's probalby only the one in the tank.

02 impreza starting problems
Legacy777 replied to AEIOU's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo when you have the problem the starter won't crank at all? Does it occur only when the engine is "hot"? If you leave it sit for a little bit have you noticed the problem? The windings in the starter or the wiring going to the starter may be starting to degrade and once it heats up may give you intermittant issues. I'd also suggest checking all the grounds coming from the battery to the chassis and starter as well as the power lead.

2003 Subaru Baja won't start...I think it's security systems
Legacy777 replied to joanne23's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWelcome to the USMB. Did the battery get disconnected any time recently? I don't know if this will do anything, but you could try giving the suggestion in this post a try. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/8039-forester-security-system/ Hopefully someone else may be able to provide some more help.

EJ22T after swap problems. Fuel cut at 3 to 5 lbs of boost.
Steve, Apparently the TPS scans I posted are wrong. You should have around 4.7v when the throttle is closed and around ~1v with it opened. The ECU I/O shows this as well. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/ECU_I-O_page1.jpg I'm not sure if the new TPS will make any difference, maybe it will.....but I believe your signal voltages are good.

Anybody plastidipped the lower plastic panels on their Outback?

JUST got a '05 Legacy Wagon, need to add fog lights, have backlighting ?
Legacy777 replied to SubeeTed's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou can buy, or at least you could buy the OEM fog lamp add on kit. All the wiring is there and you just add the lamps, and switches. You also have to buy the appropriate body color surrounds. I did this with the 06 legacy wagon I used to own. I'd call your dealer or email one of the online subaru dealers to see if they still have them.

Heim joint suspension for 95 and newer?
Legacy777 replied to Dwobbly's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAre you looking for stuff to fit the Impreza or Legacy? Honestly, I'd probably recommend against the heim joints as they aren't the best suited for a daily driver. If it's a track or occasional car then they might be worth going with. I'd recommend split poly bushings if you're wanting to replace some of the older bushings. Whiteline and Super Pro both make bushings that would work.
