  1. Tranny should have nothing to do with the engine firing up. If its been sitting for a while, I would suspect the fuel pump is bad or not getting power, or a bad ground on it. Fuel pump sits under the car, in front of the right rear tire. Theres a connector to it where you can test for power. It might help to diagnose it easier if the green test connector is plugged in. Its either under the dash to the left of the steering coluum, or in the engine bay next to the wiper motor. When plugged in, the fuel pump will cycle continusly.
  2. Thanks for the clarification Boz Having a home in Malibu is nuts. Even if I had the money, the view isnt worth it. The SoCal area has been ravaged by fire the last couple of years, pretty soon there wont be anything left to burn Another reason I couldnt live there.....is the thought of having Sean Penn for a neighbor
  3. Maybe Lk Arrowhead in certain areas. But the locals that live and work in the area are not rich snobs. They are just like us, trying to eck out a living. Kind of resent that comment S'ko
  4. Heh, you dont get more modern than a 87.5 XT-T :-p Digi dash, air suspension, etc
  5. Dang, if you can talk the wife into going, I might just tag along. Can we sit in the back?
  6. Ohohoh....I want to go too! Those are my old stomping grounds I lived in Running Springs from 70-80, but was camping up there starting in the mid 60's. I've 4wheeled the SanBerdo Mts from Crestline to BB Lk. And on the desert side from Barstow/Victorville to Yucca Valley. Soobdude, the place your thinking about is Holcomb Valley. You go thru Deer Lick and Fawnskin to get there. I've spent alot of time there, the place is a blast. But be prepared for Winter conditions. You may not even make it that far back. Better bring chains, blankets, extra clothes, etc. I'm serious, I've been in some harsh winter conditions up there and (I hate to say it) but you flat landers sometimes have no idea And since all the fires up there in the last couple of years, I would be ready for slides on the Hiways going up there. Heres a web site to keep an eye on the conditions up there. Doesnt look to good right now either :-\ http://www.rimoftheworld.net/discuss/166/4013/?action=reverse I just read a bunch of the reports there, the whole place is burning up I thought most of the fires were in Santa Clarita and Malibu, and south down by SD. This really sucks. Hope you guys have a place to in January.
  7. Why do some people have such a problem with the search feature? Its called SEAFOAM.....and you can get it at most auto parts stores.
  8. No, the cover is completely seperate of the glass. Its part of the headliner. You need to pull the sunvisors, rearview mirror and maybe the overhead/map lights. Then you need to pull the push in clips that hold the headliner (PITA). I also think the trim needs to be removed on the sides above the doors (more PITA). Good luck.
  9. Send me a PM when you want to visit. I'm home most of the time.
  10. I may be selling my 87.5 XT-T....and I'm in W.WA. Let me know if you want more info and pics. If your close to me, you can even come look at it
  11. The sunroof is easy. Lots of them in our local yards. Theres 2 plastic strips on each side with 2 screws each. Remove those. Then theres 8 nuts that hold adjusting shims to the track and glass. Those get removed, then the glass will come out the top. On some years, the WING WINDOW glass is a glued in unit. It may have to be ordered.
  12. Sounds like the perfect course........for my Hatch
  13. I agree. I own most of my Subaru's due to their quirkyness. My XT. My XT6. My 3 SVX's. My Lifted Hatch. The only "Normal" one I have is the Brat. Well, that and my RX. That might be considered a little quirky.
  14. Try rotating the tires, see if it changes anything. Then go from there on checking the rest of the suspension.
  15. Usually the only time I wear latex gloves is when I do axles/boot/CV's. Man, what a messy job, as Darling Chip demonstrates :-p
  16. Thanks, I'm certainly liking it :-p I did cheat in taking the pic. You cant see the nasty hood or the passenger door. 2 items that need work. The hood is almost dry, its in my office under a heat lamp
  17. I just took it for a ride. The tires still rub a little, need to massage the edge of the fender a little more. But I can take a corner at more than 30mph
  18. Yeah, but at least we have a choice now. Paul, subaruparts.com may have the gasket. I have been meaning to call to double check its the right one but havent had time. It might be a good idea to see if they do, cause any aftermarket glass will not. And if the installer doesnt take care when removing the old one, it will look like crap.
  19. I think I'll rub it in some more........my wheels came in today. Tires come in late tomorrow, probably cant get them mounted till Monday:-\ From a Nissan Murano, 18x7.5 Shoe size will be 245/40 :-p Still debating on painting them, I have time yet.
  20. Not! Just had one installed the other day for $345. The only problem with aftermarket glass is the moulding/gasket. It does not come with it. But I think subaruparts.com has them now. And the glass is not tinted, so it will not interfere with radar detectors, garage door remotes and toll passes.
