This turbo isnt worth rebuilding and finding parts for it is impossible. Best to get another one with little or no shaft play or upgrade to the VF11 from the early Legacy's.
  2. Sounds pretty neat, but the only sad thing about it all is he's not building it himself - Its being built by Northwest Rally Sports. Still, its a cool build.
  3. I've installed a few different types of seats in older Subaru's, so I'm not sure what would fit in yours. But to get some Mitsubishi seats to fit, I had to do some minor fabricating. Brackets had to be welded onto the seat bottoms for the rails, etc. If you get a seat thats height adjustable it shouldnt be to hard to do the rest.
  4. What year? If its 86(87?) and up it will have a hotwire and should only be cleaned with MAF cleaner that you can get at the parts store.
  5. Very detailed sticky at nasioc on this. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2462278
  6. The old Opels used Solex also. When I had my 70 wagon its the first thing I did, toss the Solex and installed a Weber.

  8. I believe its the ball bearings hitting flat spots on the races. If they are really bad and you over extend the axle, the bearings could come out
  9. Not a very good weekend to go on a drive... http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=WAZ504&warncounty=WAC067&firewxzone=WAZ655&local_place1=&product1=Special+Weather+Statement#.UkYPIIYqh8E
  10. These tend to be rebuilt and garbage, they will click right out of the box. If you can handle shipping, this is your best bet for EA axles. http://retroroo.com/subaru-axles-denvercolorado/
  11. I have a Dewalt 3/8in 18v cordless that kicks butt. Its not that big and has enough torque to remove lugnuts if the battery is fresh. Theres been some suspension nuts and bolts that were to tight, but those were even tight for a 1/2in air wrench.

  13. This is a long read but worth it, lots of good info. http://subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3575&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
  14. Heres the detour route... Another good place to look before heading out is the WSDOT site for detours, closures etc. http://www.wsdot.com/traffic/trafficalerts/pugetsound.aspx
  15. I like, good job!
  16. As far as I know, a cert is only necessary for Aus. Nothing required for other markets (EU I'm not sure).
  17. Probably just lumps in the grease, like lumps in mashed potatoes. Once its been spun good it should be fine.
  18. I'd like to know where you got the rubber intake from the turbo to the MAF? Uploaded with ImageShack.com Btw, very clean swap.
  19. Its a 81, so its possible the pump is worn out or weak.
  20. You will have to get the oil pump from the dealer but the gasket is available from Rockauto.
  21. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/140749-carfax-being-sued/ Get it inspected by a Subaru mech first.
  22. Years ago I did this to my RX. Besides frying some of the fusible links, I borked a few gauges in the inst panel.
