Tranny conversion problem
How much more room do you need? It may take a spacer to drop it down to clear the trans. I would remove it for now, then after the tranny install try and get it to fit. Do you have a lift in? It looks pretty tight in there. Has anybody else done this swap? Sheese, I have more q's than Shawn. Rob

Silly EA82T coolant problems
A common problem with these are the waterpumps, or to be more exact, the waterpump to lower rad hose o-ring. On the right of the waterpump theres a large metal tube that comes out about 8in, and then into the lower rad hose. Theres an o-ring on the end of the tube that goes into the waterpump. The o-ring comes with a new waterpump. This is just an option, and probably wouldnt hurt replacing before summer gets there. Rob

Turbo wagon runs again.
Ditto on that. You most likely have the disty off a tooth or two. Rob

Maybe even a cooling line came loose. Rob

Power Window Problem
You said the voltage at the switch when operating is .04. Whats the voltage to the switch from the module? Maybe a bad connection in between? If not, its most likely the switch. If you need one send me a PM or email. Rob

'86 Wagon Bumper & Tail-light Removal
You need to lift the little cargo flap in the rear deck, bolts are 2 on each side. The nuts for the lights are located behind plastic covers in the corners. I think they are 8mm. Rob

Transmission Questions
Well, you get the trans from a 1985 + 4wd car! You will also need to swap out the rear end, the ratio's are different. The MT tranny is 3.9. It also means you need the complete drivetrain, which is the 2 piece driveshaft. So it sounds like you dont have enough parts:( Theres lots of 4wd wagons out there, you can pick one up fairly cheap. Its better than doing all that work. Rob

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose
After finally getting the 3spd 4wd AT swapped into my Turbo Coupe, I took it out for a test drive. Everything went ok, just a little slow to shift into 3rd. Got back and checked the fluids, all ok. Waited a while then decided to go again, this time a little more aggressively. Wouldnt go into 3rd at all. !@#$%^&. Came back to the house and checked everything again. Let it sit for almost an hour, jumped in and took off down the road, normal driving. This time it started grinding, bad. 1/2mi from the house, I really dont want to push. Turned it around and limped it back in 1st gear. It took me 3 months to do the swap (bad back, remember). There might be someone interested in buying it and having the 5spd D/R put in. You all certainly know what I'm hoping for. I do have the old tranny, which is good. Its just the diff thats bad. I can swap diffs and will probably be good, but its more work than I want to do right now. Well, theres my rant for the week:D Rob

Some Questions after changing my fluids....
Turbone replied to a post in a topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXUh, who said it was a good idea to drain the fluid out of a AT, and then run it thru the gears with the engine running? Anyone see anything wrong with this pic? Or did I misread the post. Rob

87 RX quit running
If the belts are ok, its most likely the ignitor in the disty. Rob

Transmission Questions
Put the 5spd in it, much better on mileage. Wiring isnt a problem, just the reverse switch. You need to take the pedal box off the parts car and put it in. This is the hardest part, harder then the tranny install I think. Clutch cable and speedo cable. Need to swap out the brackets that hold the strut cap rods, these have to bolt to the body. Also the tranny mounts. If I missed anything, others will pitch in. rob

Transmission Questions
The EA81 AT's are junk. Dont waste your money rebuilding it. If you want to keep the AT, go to a JY and get another, preferably from a low mileage car. The best way to fix this is put a 5spd in. Its some work, but it will pay in the long run. Rob

Alternator bad?? I'm an idiot...
Take your battery in and have it checked. It may have a bad cell, or could just be getting old. Rob

The heavily modified '84 Turbowagon of Tech Works
Nope, cant see it in any of the shots, alot of mods in the engine bay. Its kind of buried behind the manifold and under the plenum.

oil in Turbo? is this normal
If there is excessive oil from the compressor side into the transfer pipe (plenum), check the PCV system. Straight from the FSM. Rob
