  1. Geeze, where was I when this was posted? My 84 Turbo Coupe has about the same mileage as other EA81T's. Qman is also correct with the statement of the pedal on the right connected to fuel consumption. I had better MPG when I was on the freeway, around 24mpg. Rob
  2. I'm with the Bard. It could be the fact that your not on a slick enough surface and your getting alternating grip. Also, what do you expect with studded tires on a metal bridge deck:eek: Rob
  3. Hey Matt, did you see the post earlier this day about the 5spd conversion? Theres links and other info in it. Rob
  4. Wasnt 87 the odd year? Where nothing cross-matched? I have the shift-up light, but I have never seen it light up. But there is a definate beep when your R's go to the redline. Where are the MPH numbers for the CC? I havent seen those yet. Rob
  5. My 82 Hatchback was 20mi away from 300K when I was T-Boned. One of the saddest days of my life:( Rob
  6. You need to get the thermostat housing tapped, should cure alot of problems. Still dont know when I'm going to make it up that way. I'm wanting to go to Reiter, but its still not decided. Rob
  7. Thats the main reason alot of (ignorant) Subaru owners park em and forget em when they blow a HG. Most (ignorant) mechanics dont want to mess with it, so they qoute an outrageous price. If it wasnt for this situation, we wouldnt be finding cheap Soobs in peoples yards and fields. Rob
  8. Old Soobs never die, they just get recycled (owners). Rob
  9. Have fun, be safe. We'll hold the fort down for ya. I think we know Pauls weak spots now. Subarus and beer:-p Rob
  10. The FSM says its in the inst panel:rolleyes: It also sez its a pink 4 pole connector. I would look on the left of the steering colume, under the dash. A PIA to get to but thats where alot of the relays are. Rob
  11. I've seen the one your talking about, but it was back in the late 80's or early 90's. Glad to hear its still around. This topic has been talked about so much, I'm sure theres something in the Archives, pics included. Rob
  12. It also sounds like the turbo blew the oil seal, or line. This turbo is easy to find and shouldnt cost much second hand. The problem for you I think, is lack of tools and know-how. But seeing how your in the most Soob populated area around, maybe someone can give you a hand replacing it. (sorry, I cant help, I already have enough on my plate) Rob
  13. It might be early morning, or mid. Not sure yet as I havent set a solid time to meet the other person. Once I know, I'll get a hold of you. Rob
  14. Way to go Jerry! Let me know when you get it mounted, I want to get some pics. Rob
  15. I have one, but everything is still attached. Let me know when you need it, I may be in the Renton area Sat. Rob
  16. GD, are you saying I need constant attention? All I seem to get is constant BS:lol: Rob
  17. If you havent done it yet, I suggest checking the timing. It could be the cause of the knocking and other problems also. Skip, you are partially right about the connectors. The "check connector" is black, but the "test mode connector" is green. Rob
  18. Yay, I finally get to see it! It looks good too. Cant mistake it for anything but a Turbo, eh? Rob
  19. Go to your local hardware store and get some window weather stripping. They have different sizes, lots of selections if the store is a big one. Expirement with that, its cheap. Rob
  20. Theres plenty left to go around. Oh, and the incident with the hood pins. Uh, lets just say that while having an electrical/no start issue up above, in my haste I for got to put the pins back in:banghead: Glad I had a X-Mas tree on top, might have broken the W/S. Stupid hood. Stupid Rob:rolleyes: If anyone has a spare hood lying around, let me know? Rob
  21. Sorry bout that, missed this post. Theres alot of differences in weight between the models and options. This is for the 5spd D/R - 1,143lbs. Rob
  22. Ditto on the sensor. You need to find the green connector under the dash, left side, one wire. Once this is connected, you will be able to read the codes. Rob
  23. The problem is almost similiar to mine(86 GL-10 TUrbo). I just put a new thermostat in cause of a wierd heating issue. The temp would go up to the red for a couple of minutes, then drop down to normal. I also changed out the temp sending unit. Its still doing it, along with a loss of coolant(you can smell it after driving). I have replaced most of the hoses on top with silicone, but havent changed the return for the turbo. Theres no change in the way it runs, and doesnt act at all like its overheating:cornfuzz: I guess I'm going to have to crawl underneath and have a look at the water return hose:-\ Rob
  24. All info is from the 86 FSM. The 4wd stats are for the RX Turbo. Front 2wd - Expansion,176lb/Comp,110lb 4wd - Expansion,309lb/Comp,265lb Rear 2wd - Expansion,176/Comp,110lb 4wd - Expansion,309lb/Comp,221lb Rob
